ItsTommyBitch 12,640
I really love the video, and am getting more references every view it seems, but I also still don't get the sense that Taylor is owning up to these incidents that may have dampened her reputation (I still say no one gives a **** but internet stans ), rather just saying "This happened and people thought this about me" - or perhaps even "I'm innocent, and its just people projecting onto me", which might be true some of the time, but there are some pretty black and white things that went on in the last 3 years around Taylor and Co, and I'd like to know if she is actually saying "No, I didn't do these things" Personally, I'd still rather she just be like "Yeah, I'm a bad bitch and sometimes I do things that aren't so nice. I'm human" but you find your aesthetic sis 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

I feel someone like Britney or Madonna, (ya know, Icons) have been around long enough and have earned the right to make such a bold statement song and video like this. I feel with Taylor it feels just calculated and forced. It doesn't feel empowering it just all feels petty to me. I just want her to grow the **** up at this point. This article sums up perfectly how I feel about this. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/607805001/ Is 11 years not long enough for you
SpadesToStart 3,306
I think Taylor is the worst, but I can't deny that this was an excellent video.

I certainly support the idea that the whole fishnet look is a Beyonce reference especially now I realise that the house she's performing in looks an awful lot like the one Beyonce used for her Mrs Carter tour promo, where she's dressed like a 16th century queen. All very shady. I'm confused. Why would Taylor be referencing Beyoncé in any capacity? Aren't they friends? Bey and Jay went to Taylor's birthday party a year or two ago. The whole dance sequence could be said that it looks like Formations or Paparazzi just because she is doi choreo in a big house with gay background dancers. But this wasn't a trend started by Gaga or Beyoncé anyway. Plus Taylor and Beyoncé are friends.

I mean, a lot of people are comparing LWYMMD to Formation and I just don't get it at all. Taylor's video is flashy and very pop-driven whereas Formation was very political and meaningful. Both vids are absolutely incredible but I think people have to be reaching when they say Taylor is referencing or copying Formation. They literally look nothing alike. Fancy houses and black clothing are used all of the time.

NIghtmareElm 2,606
The video has just a few less views than Swish Swish. Yet Swish Swish has been out a few days longer. Talk about a burial lol

mpthecat 928
I was so adamant on not paying her any mind during Red and 1989 but for some reason she won me over with this video. I don't know what to think.
SlaeUrAnus 15,843
I'm still SHOOK! Hands down the best MV of 2017 so far. She's using the reputation that we all gave her and she is mocking everything that gets thrown at her. So she is now selling snake merchandise and using it to promote her brand. It is mother****ing genius. In my messy era.

Bey and Jay went to Taylor's birthday party a year or two ago. I get that, but who else could she possibly be referring to when she sings "I don't like your kingdom keys, they once belonged to me"? There's only one artist being called The Queen right now and that's Beyonce. She was also the current reigning queen of the music scene until Taylor just came back. Since Taylor's extended absence, Beyonce has had the best-selling female album of 2016, got outstanding critical reception, has done praised live performances, has won a ton of awards, has had a sold-out stadium tour and was hotly tipped to win the Grammy for AOTY (and probably was the runner-up). Taylor, considering that not too long ago, she had all this, might be feeling a bit resentful and fear that her image as the #1 American female and the #1 female overall is under threat. So, throw in this bit about "kingdom keys" and then a sequence that brings to mind Beyonce's Mrs Carter tour promo video and the Formation video (plus Beyonce performances in general) and we're starting to get an even clearer picture. Taylor's notorious for not showing mega support for fellow female artists if they're at her level of success or greater. She hates Katy, she was just friendly to Gaga whenever they met at award shows but she never became a member of her squad, she's never hung around Rihanna or Nicki. She was never seen around Miley post-Bangerz. I don't think I've ever seen her around Adele. And she's never hung around Beyonce much either (except for big events). Notice how she doesn't feature females on her songs either? The few singers in her squad and the ones she invited onstage were all artists who had very limited success, were one hit wonders or were trying to catch a break at the time (Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez, Lorde, Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony, Rachel Platten, Charli XCX, etc). Basically, no one that posed a huge threat to her. I don't think she has any real reason to hate Beyonce, of course, but maybe there's something that went on behind that scenes that we don't know about? Let's not pretend that Taylor doesn't want to get that queen bee image that Beyonce has. She's no longer hiding the fact that she likes and craves success now.
