I think since the label decided to push Perfect Illusion as the lead, Gaga had to came up with something to cover the meaning of the song as she would probably believed everybody knew what it had to know (she even posted on instagram about their break up for gods sake). Exploring what it meant to her and stuff would have created sone unnecessary beef. And it's still this song being about Taylor is that unsaid truth that everybody knows anyway, and Gaga is aware of that.

In Taylor's perspective, event though they're friends of course it would be awkward and uncomfortable to see your ex fiancee who you had a relationship for 5 years scream "IT WASN'T LOVE IT WAS A PERFECT ILLUSION". Any reaction he made could seem strange. But if he went backstage after the show then things must be okay, or even juicier....

Now I was thinking what his reaction to Million Reasons was. Thats definitely a more emotional and sensible song that reaches more intimate things. That could have been more uncomfortable.

Million Reasons is not about that drama queen though
