I know she wants to be witty, and I appreciate her effort throughout this era to try be something more other than a typical sexy popstar, but she's just not funny enough for it to not be awful. I caught a rerun of her episode of Raising Hope a while back. She was pulling these overexagerated, ridiculous faces, and it was just supremely unfunny. Same thing here and in all her comedic MVs. She's too hamfisted, whereas the funniest comedic actors are usually 100% serious when in-character (think Louis CK in "Louie", Steve Carrell as Michael Scott, or Catherine O'Hara in any Christopher Guest movie ).
