The GP and Katy Perry

So Katy Perry's recent experiences have taught me something.

Never show your vulnerable side to the public.

I personally wouldn't mind that from her, I would still attend her show if she came near me as long as ticket prices are reasonable.

But she has been struggling with selling tickets and singles performance ever since Bon Appetit. Swish Swish isn't doing that well either. Her Witness livestream seemed to deteriorate her image rather than improve it. The therapy session and 'is math related to science' thing led to public criticism. Even she has changes her twitter bio to 'i know nothing'. I kinda understand the GP for not wanting to attend the show of a pop star who is perceived as unintelligent. I mean she did ask 'is math related to science'.

Dont get me wrong, I love her music, what I'm trying to say is never show your vulnerable side to the public. It will kill your image.

Also in Feels and Chained to the Rhythm she had long hair and she's rewarded for her hotness again.

The gp just wanted their boring bops and her long black hair, she should keep experimenting.

I think this is my fave era from her personally.

I applaud Katy for pushing the whole expectation of a "hot girl" having long hair. What I don't like is that she doesn't take the flop she gets. Gaga may have not taken it well on the inside...however she stayed professional through it, she didn't create things to further get her 5 minutes of attention...she decided to take a break instead and work on Jazz music. Katy however has been doing senseless things to get more attention (i.e. crying on ig live stream because BA wasn't being played on the radio, joking about Britney's mental health and more).

I think after the Witness era is over, she needs to take a break, recover as an artist. And just like Gaga, make a huge comeback that people will love. Obviously, Gaga's comeback wasn't as expected by the GP but knowing Katy's music, people will like her again if she takes her time to create new music. What Katy also needs to realise is that almost every pop icon has been through their flops, Madonna, Gaga, Nicki, Rihanna, Xtina. So she shouldn't feel like her career is over when it's not, just learn to improve and move forward ya know?

I feel bad for her, but not for her fans.

I totally agree, her fans throw poop at other fanbases to make Katy look like the best of the bunch when really it makes Katy look like the bad person. I don't like them at all :lolly:

Interesting when she was going on with this woke image in the beginning :selena:

Katy receives a lot of hate this era just because she's experimenting and is a goofy person. I mean flop happens but people are so relieved she's flopping like their lives will change. Go to any site like atrl and you'll find tons of hateful messages.

I feel really bad for her as a human being.

The GP seems to find Katy weird and NOT in a good way. I also don't think they understand the concept and imagery of the album and era.

The livestream was unique but also perhaps a bit too invasive and showed a lot of flaws in a not so controlled environment.

The music hasn't been TERRIBLE but not AMAZING either. You either love or hate it and most hate it it seems...

The tour isn't selling because people would rather see an act they know can sing well and her recent performances haven't shown that...

I think it all came down to her image not clicking with the GP.

You also have to factor in that people aren't really here for big pop stars anymore. I mean for all the **** they got, Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Apetit and Swish Swish are great singles. It's just that the GP dropped her because she was being a cringy mess, and her promo narrative was all over the place. Hillary?Woke? Sexual liberation? Taylor? Politics? etc

I also think that her and her team were caught off guard and did not expect the singles to bomb as hard or the public reaction, so they were unable couldn't correct course fast enough

I feel bad for her because she tried and everybody is giving her ****. But I do love seeing the Katheryn Cats fuming, especially now that Taylor is coming to end lives :giggle:

I believe that it's a recurrent phenomenon with artists who attempt to venture outside of their usual material and try to take on more ambitious projects. Especially, when it's being teased months in advance, because it's then when the media starts to nitpick and scrutinize their statements and to hold them to a fictitious standard that wasn't there in the first place.

We've seen it happen to ARTPOP, yet we've not seen it happen to albums like Beyoncé or Lana Del Rey's albums, because these artists rarely do interviews. I am not trying to compare the quality of either of these albums, I'm merely referring to how an era is perceived and treated by the media and how it's able to unfold. These artists are not risking to stumble over their own words trying to explain a concept or setting the bar too high for themselves. The media won't bother to deconstruct their music, because no one, apart from fans and music lovers, would read that.

For artists like Beyonce, it means that her media coverage is going to focus on her life and perhaps how specific lyrics relate to it. But the quality of her music isn't necessarily put under the microscope. For artists like Lana, whose lyrics are hardly ever linked to her (public) personal life, it means close to no media coverage. And for artists like Gaga and Katy, it means a myriad of articles that focus on all the wrong things.

I actually like her so much. She's a goofy person and you can perceive that in her videos, we need her in the industry, she's the only fun artist out there.

Urban music is the thing now and that affected Katy + all the backlash. in 2013 Females were still dominating  and thanks to that Gaga didn't flop(she underperformed a little bit:emma: ), sometimes I feel bad for her because she's not a vocalist and for some reason, the general public appreciates  when an artist can really sing and they're willing to give them a second opportunity if they have vocal talent, and well...Katy is not the best singer so she'll have to rely on catchy songs in order to gain popularity again

No offence but has Christina Aguilera made a proper comeback? Also when did Rihanna ever flop?

If I were her team, I would advise her to go for a more serious image instead of a comedic and goofy one.

You're right about the Xtina one....I realised Lotus doesn't really count as a comeback :poot: but girl, truely, wherehaveyoubeen.mp3 with Rihanna? ANTI definitely didn't sell well. It only got two singles alone, discluding 45S, BBHMM and AO. Also according NY times, the album sold "fewer than 1,000 copies" in the US first week. Her last album Unapologetic got more singles.

Either way my point wasn't to pick out flops, it was to show that every artist, particularly female artists have their flops...and that Katy should just learn from it and become better for KP5. As the saying goes, don't be bitter just better better, Katy definitely ain't being better thats for sure.
