Loved it Judas - My most listened to song, loved it! Americano - aaaaaaaaa americaaaa americaaaanooo, <3 Hair - I like the upbeatness Scheiße - I like the stereotypical type sound for some reason, I like the german part, the chorus is good as well but I like most of the other stuff. Flora 695
Marry the Night - Eh, this is it? She says the words "marry" and "night" like 67 times in this song, its not bad, meh.Born This Way - LOVE. I was like ****ting a brick. It's probably the moment when I because a super devoted fan.Government Hooker - SLAYED MY ****ING SOUL. I didn't think it could get better than the Mugler remix, it did. FlawlessJudas - Immediately freaked out at its flawlessness, I texted all my Gaga fan friends freaking out of how good it was.Americano - It was just okay, I mean it was catchy and stuff, but I just was neutral with itHair - I thought it was total garbage **** and stupid. I went to school for ASB later and I had everyone listen to it and made them agree it was ****.Scheiße - Very good. It was upbeat and fun, the german intro was a bit long, but still awesome nonetheless.Bloody Mary - It made my stomach drop tbh, it was just so epic and reminded me of TFM era, I was just in awe. I just wish the intense instrumental showed through more.Black Jesus †Amen Fashion - It was just okay, sounded way to Madonna 80s reject song to me, no hate thoughBad Kids - I LOVED it. The message, the chorus, everything. I just knew it would instantly be a fave for me.Fashion of His Love - I loved it. And when I heard the line from Earthquake in it, I LOST IT, I freaked out, I couldn't believe the line was in it. I loved the rest of the song too.Highway Unicorn (Road To Love) - I low expectations for this, since the name was so cheesy, but it pulled through and turned out to be really good.Heavy Metal Lover - Probably my least favorite so far, it was just weird and not enough vocals, again it wasn't bad, just not going to be one of my go-to songs.Electric Chapel - We had a little taste from the small clips from GGV, and the song pulled through to be just epic, loved the rocker but still mellow vibes from it.The Queen - For some reason I feel like this song meant a lot to Gaga when she wrote it when I first heard it, it was deep and the slowed down end made it really deep to me.Yoü and I - I thought it was really amazing, better than I expected. I didn't expect it to be one of my faves though. The Edge of Glory - I **** a complete brick, I was with my friends and bought it on my iPhone and listened to it driving home, I couldn't even with it, It was just spectacular. P.S: My thoughts on Born This Way, Judas, Hair, and The Edge of Glory were all when they were released first as singles/promo when the rest were when I got the album. Bloody Mary 12
I love, love, love the fan reactions on YouTube. This one is great too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj3UtznOHUE 1. Marry the Night - I died and went to heaven. The chorus gave me chills. This is now my favorite Gaga song!!! I still get chills when I hear it. I couldn't be more thrilled about this song as the opening to the album! The melody/instrumental is by far her best ever. There's something very special about this song that is difficult to translate into words. 2. Born This Way - I didn't like this song at first when it came out. I thought it sounded like a boring, generic, watered-down remix and I agreed with the Express Yourself comparisons. I think it sounds much better in the context of the album, though. With MTN as a lead in and GH is a lead out, it's very exciting! 3. Government Hooker - Phenomenal! I died when I heard the Mugler remix at first. I'm convinced that the "I'm gonna drink my tears tonight..." hook is one of the most darkly catchy choruses in the catalogue of pop music, period. 4. Judas - Loved it. Another insanely catchy chorus with multiple amazing hooks! I was listening to it nonstop when it first came out! I was sad that the religious controversy stopped it from becoming a massive hit. 5. Americano - I liked it upon first listen because the lyrics are great and I remembered how much I liked the acoustic version. But I stopped liking it upon 2nd or 3rd listen because I hate the "la la la la la la, la la la la la la" part. Plus the chorus is weak. This is the only song on the album that I always skip over. 6. Hair - I was totally indifferent to this song when I first heard it as a promo single. I thought the melody and instrumental was up there with Gaga's best ever, but I hated the lyrics so much that it neutralized the good. This performance made me like Hair, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHygec3fyio It gave the song much more depth and complexity. 7. Scheisse - I was floored when I heard the chorus for the first time! I think this is the catchiest chorus Gaga has ever written. The album version is a huge improvement from the remix, which was great but was definitely missing a singalong punch. 8. Bloody Mary - Upon first listen, this was my favorite song on the entire album. It's so dark and intelligent and yet so wacky and uniquely Gaga. The instrumental is hypnotic and addictive. This sort of strange prog-pop is an example of the type of sound I'd like to see on her album. 9. Bad Kids - I love this song! The lyrics make me laugh and the chorus is very Michael Jackson. 10. Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) - I was extremely skeptical about this song because I judged it by its stupid title... just like I judged the stupid woman-motorcycle album cover. But this is actually one of the most exciting songs on the album. The chord progression and production in the verses sounds almost too complex--it's a little messy, even! But the the metal-pop-stadium rock fusion of the chorus and lead out is so brilliantly done. I can't wait to hear the way this song sounds live! I hope to hear more songs like this on the next album. 11. Heavy Metal Lover - Amazing! Innovative! Like Portishead + with the "ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh"s of old school Britney. This is another example of the type of sound I'd like to see on her next album. 12. Electric Chapel - Genius. I love the instrumental intro, the verses, the chorus, the breakdown...it's all fantastic! I love when Gaga does metal-pop. 13. You and I - Phenomenal production! I love the electro-rock feel, and how amazing her vocals are. I've listened to this song maybe the most out of any of the songs on the album! 14. The Edge of Glory - Beautiful, clean vocals from Gaga and fantastic sax solo. Definitely proof of how much Gaga has matured as a songwriter since songs like Poker Face. I also really like the stadium rock feeling that HU also has! Upon first listen, my favorite songs on the album were Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover and Electric Chapel. Now my favorite songs are Marry the Night, You and I and Bloody Mary. Basically, though, I refer to every song on the album as "one of my favorites" except BTW, Hair and Americano. Special edition reactions: Black Jesus Amen Fashion - Throwaway, Madonna-ripoff filler track. I still feel that way, although I love the Michael Woods remix. Fashion of his Love - Again, throwaway, Madonna-ripoff filler track. Although I find it catchier than BJAF, I'm still not a big fan. I like the remix on disc 2 better. The Queen - I am very mixed about this song. Other than the amazing church bells in the beginning, I can't stand the song before the 2min50sec mark. But then, after 2:50, it becomes possibly the greatest song Gaga has ever done in her entire career. The song dramatically changes gears halfway through and then sounds completely different. In the last half of the song, the melody is like Pulp Fiction-style surfer rock and her vocals and lyrics are just so ROCK STAR!
