StrawberryBlond 14,872
It would have been a massive smash. I would have much preferred this song to go to #1 over BTW. And yes, I know that may make me unpopular, but it's just what I feel. I know TEOG got its #1's in South Korea and Slovakia, but it deserved to be a global #1. Should have been right up there with other massive single releases like Adele's Someone Like You and the like. Had it been released as the lead single, I have no doubt it would have been. The lack of Madonna comparisons would also have set a good precedent for the era and got it off to a much better start. To be honest, I think all her singles released this era deserved to go to #1 over BTW. Don't get me wrong, I love the lyrics and the message but the actual music is such a letdown, in my opinion. I feel she's released much better songs since then and it annoys me that they never got the recognition they deserved. But I am pleased that I've seen TEOG get lots more attention in the last few months, especially used on singing reality shows. I feel that's what's mostly kept it around as long as it has in the charts.
Klou 2,414
Didn't really work as the fifth, though... That's partly the reason BECAUSE it was the 5th single.

Ty3009 232
I still think that Born This Way was the best choice for the lead single. It was massively successful in it's own right, even if it did invite Madonna comparisons. It also was a "gateway" to the rest of the album, setting up some of the themes. I can't imagine it not being the first single to this album. However, I think that The Edge of Glory should have replaced Judas as the second single. It's a lot more radio friendly and the general public responded well to it. Judas could have been the third single. I don't think that Marry the Night deserves the praise it gets on this board. It wasn't single material. I can't believe it was ever in contention for the lead single. 1. Born This Way 2. The Edge of Glory 3. Judas 4. You & I
Sleigh Mama 0
The EOG video is the biggest disappointment in the history of Lady Gaga in my opinion  Even if it has no commercial value, like everybody else I hope the remake a beautiful aquatic video with Yuyi. Miel 15,009
I think the live version is breathtaking. Not particularly exciting or pumping, but indeed breathtaking. 3 points in and ready for more

soonisthenewblack 0
My favorite on the album, in its arrangement and it just stands out in a very good way. I love the mutated verses, screams and the chants. Would have loved to see a video for the song. Must say, even though i do think the live version is a bit chilling, I imagined a more demonic theme to the performance. I don't mind if Gaga is floating around but what about these other dancers. The 3 men with their arms in that weird arrangement and then half of the song they stand there bobbing their heads happily, smiling even. Just doesn't seem right to me with this song. Maybe this choreography swayed me too much (http://www.youtube.c...h?v=oXapn8SjbOg). I think a good dance number would suit this so well!

Forrest Gump 1
The problem with born this way being released first was that it was hyped up to be something way better when it's really just average. TEOG as the first single would have matched the hype and really give it that kickstart it needed
Spooky 501
The live version is perfection. It's so eerie. Only Gaga could pull off alien ghosts. I love this song so much. :emo: like a ghost, i vanish into you
