Gaga is Life 101
But Born This Way was #1 for six weeks ? I don't think The Edge of Glory would have fallen as quickly as Born This Way though. And TEOG could have stayed at #1 for longer too. Possibly.
KPotatodorkK 3
imagine if **** would have been released first..... BTW would have still been owning the charts tbh :coffee:

miju 375
That'd be great. I think making BTW the single was perfect though despite the EYO comparisons. TEOG would've been as successful as BTW I think or more. I think it should've been either- BTW TEOG TEOG BTW YAI or YAI HAIR HAIR And as an experimental last single, Scheisse, Americano, FOHL or Judas. At that point they've already promoted the album with the most radio friendly-mainstream songs, and they an try out the ones that might not be that successful for the fans and see if they have a chance. Scheisse because of the gibberish, Americano because of the sound and vocals, FOHL not for being experimental, but for being a last mainstream-radio friendly single and Judas cause gaga wanted it. It should've been last considering it'd still get the "cultural baptism" she wanted since it sounds controversial and everyone would watch it. Maybe Marry The Night last just cause she wanted it. doseofamnesia. tumblr. com
Yepiz92 127
TEOG would've been #1 for 16 weeks. True TEOG is flawless :legend:
Jake 0
It would have been much bigger than BTW in the US. Worldwide probably just a little bigger. Yes we all know BTW went 6 weeks at 1 but it's only three times plat. That was mostly hype. If TEOG had been the lead single it would have gotten more hype+a better video+a non messy release. I'm glad BTW was the lead but commercialy, TEOG would have done better.
doll 0
I would like to have seen MTN as the 1st single. I think it would have done a lot better than what it actually did.

I think it would have done a lot better than what it actually did. duh high album sales caused its demised

ess 0
BTW was great as 1st single. But TEOG could have replaced Judas and then Judas could have been the third single.
RinoTheBouncer 1
I think that Releasing judas around holy week was really bad as it was deemed controversial. She could have released judas as the third single And the problem is that it's made people curse and criticize it while it wasn't even that big of a controversial subject. In other words, I wish she made a more controversial video at least it would've matched the massive criticism it received and it least it would've gained more sales and positive response from the millions of fans. she chose the 2 first singles that were anti-climactic after the hype: BTW, which drew criticism due to EY comparison, and Judas because of its theme and similarity to BR. Still think this whole era would have been so different if MTN and TEOG would have been first and 2nd single, respectively....but I still love the album Perfectly said. They could've left BTW for the 3rd or final single.
angelduuh 329
The Edge Of Glory could have been #1 for way longer. With a more elaborated video of course.
AmenTheNight 1,079
If TEOG was released as the first single, it would be as big as Just Dance, or even bigger. TEOG had all the musical factors to be an "iconic Gaga song", like Poker Face and Bad Romance. The timing, the mess around the singles/promo singles and the video killed it faster than expected. TEOG sold very well, but as the 1st single, it could have been REALLY big, bigger than BTW.
Dreamscape1896 0
Edge Of Glory wouldn't have felt right as the lead single, in my opinion. At the end of the day, it was apprpriate for Born The Way to be the lead single, though it may not have been the best choice as a lead single. Marry The Night may have been a better pick that would have supported the success of future singles. Even Sheibe. Although Born This Way made the most sense as the lead single, I think it sort of doomed the success of the rest of the singles a little bit. Born This Way is certainly not the strongest song on the album, at least in my opinion, and say what you want, but at that time, a lot of people weren't impressed. There was a big backlash, and I think part of that backlash is to blame for Judas being such a miss.
