It's not a competition.

You can care about more than one issue.

Who said this sis? Not me or anyone on this site anyway.

Nobody here. I get the impression that poc believe that

Maybe you should actually talk to poc about societal issues then because i'm sure no sane person would downplay one social issue to make another seem more important.

I personally don't like it because I don't think she's the most in the loop about politics :awkney:

but I think her heart is in the right place for what thats worth.

But I still think its a little messy :poot:

Some are mad because they're racists, simple.

And the other ones who are mad are people who want to defend the cause but take it too far, which is what ultimately leads to people not taking stuff seriously, even if white privilege is absolutely real.

People are always mad at her, no matter what she does. If she kept quiet, there would be people complaining because she did that.  No matter what she does, someone, somewhere, is going to be mad at her for it. It's a rule. At all times.

How exactly do white people actively stand up? It seems to me that minority groups think racism is the only issue or most important issue facing society. We can't stand up for every issue that exists. Why is racism more important to stand up against than child poverty or the prison system or lgbtq rights?

Minority groups don't think that. Racism and prejudice is intertwined with child poverty and prison reform anyhow...and LGBT rights is minority rights. Of course, most people included in a repressed group will be more concerned about issues facing their minority group. That's just natural.

Im annoyed that all white people are considered passively racist because we benefit from a racist society but what are we supposed to do? Should I not take a job if i know that the offer would have been given to a person of color if not for me? Should I donate a portion of my paycheck to minority communities?

Nah, just acknowledge it and move on. Be a decent person. Stick up and speak up and continue to have an open mind. Contact your senators and representatives to advocate for equality and fairness. Vote for politicians at every level who have these same values and priorities. March in local demonstrations. Maybe donate to the ACLU or volunteer somewhere if you want to go further than that! :)

Well, its not the responsibility of poc to educate white people.

Yes, but talking to POC friends is always a great start. It doesn't have to be an educational/off-putting setting, it could just be a friendly conversation about what your poc friends experience that you haven't. Ofc poc should never feel like they have to do that tho.
