First off people need to stop thinking these younger artists are gonna get the Vanguard award. Like really Fifth Harmony? My friend was trying to think that Ariana was supposed to get it. Like none of these artists that had their first hit in 2012 or 2013 are about to get a Vanguard award first Than Gaga. She also tried to add Selena Gomez to her list of possible people. None of these fairly new young artists are going to get that award so fast without having their music videos make that much of a generational impact.

I don't think it's really about that. I don't think the VMAs really sit around thinking about legacy and impact or whatever. Janet Jackson got it very early in her career. Honestly I wouldn't rule anyone out in the future, but I think it's unlikely, but mostly because those younger pop stars don't really need the promo or anything. Like, if Scooter Braun wants Justin Bieber to get it in the future, I think MTV is unlikely to balk at the idea.

Also, I don't think it's necessary to drag Gaga in order to prop up Pink. You're doing the same thing those other twitter stans are doing, just for a different pop star.

I think she is mainly getting recognized for her earlier works. Then her comeback around 2008 which had some good videos and songs. I think her album the truth about Love sealed the deal that Major successful album let people know that she isn't going anywhere and that we will always get something amazing from her because she is a true artist. I love her life story on how music changed and saved her life.

Not when Just Give Me a Reason exists. And that's counting non-album singles.

A lot of this has to do with seniority in the past few years. Only Rih was the exception I believe. The only holdovers from the 2000's era I could think off that haven't get this is Xtina and Missy.

After that though I think Taylor will get it first, or maybe even Gaga or Katy, depending on who's album era is on at that time.

And? That person never said Gaga deserved it. You just wanted to bring Gaga and "The truth is she's 17 years into her career and charts better than her" into this.
