In defense of Gaga’s JWT Backstage Experience (package analysis).

In light of recent events (Joanne World Tour backstage pictures hitting the Internet), I need to make this thread. I am really tired of ungrateful Little Monsters using each and every chance they get to slander Lady Gaga.

To begin this thread, I am going to ask you to read carefully the details of the ‘Ultimate Backstage Package’ for the Joanne World Tour:

http://imgur.com/a/GYJr3

For those who want to scratch the surface, let’s check out the details of the ARTPOP Zone package for the ARTPOP Ball Tour:

http://imgur.com/a/TtPdn

Now, let’s compare and find the differences.

Even from the title, it is quite clear that we are speaking of two different experiences. While in the first case the focus is more on the Backstage experience (band Soundcheck, backstage tour), in the latter the focus is on the Meet & Greet.

Also the moment and timing of the two experiences is important. While at the artRave, the M&G took place after the show, at the Joanne World Tour the meeting with the artist takes place before the show. That means that the fans will have less time with the artist (hence the group pics and no autographs policy). From a more human point of view, I would like to point out how the mood of the artist can be different in the two different moments: it is understandable that during the picture taking process at the Joanne World Tour Gaga is more tense, nervous and less talkative. The fact that the meeting with the artist takes place before the show should also hint that the meeting is meant to be brief and rushed. It should also be pointed out that the Joanne World Tour ‘Ultimate Backstage Package’ was never advertised as an intimate Meet & Greet experience with the artist.

Speaking of the photo, there is not much to say: the details of the package were made public before the tickets went on sale and it has always been known that the professional picture with Lady Gaga was not individual. Some fans expected her to take individual pictures with the fans, but that was not part of the terms and conditions. Ticket holders knew what to expect.

As far as I know, fans received everything that was stated in the details of the package. It may be overpriced, but you receive what you were promised. You are the master of your fate: if you buy it, it means you accept the terms and conditions.

That’s all I have to say for now. I really needed to make this thread because I am tired of seeing all over the internet ‘disappointed’ fans who claim that Gaga hates her fans.

After the way she behaved on the ARTOP and Born This Way tour, you can't be surprised when people expect a different kind of experience.  She used to not be so distant.

Well im really tired of people who didn't even pay for the package telling me what is okay or how I should behave

We knew it was a group picture, but it didn't say it was in groups of 6 until the instructions were sent out to fans in Vancouver. This also isn't about this not being like ARTPOP zone !!!1!1!1!! or not being a proper meet and greet since it was never advertised as such and we all have reading capabilities.

This is about her just standing there making zero effort, not even smiling and being an obvious cash grab, which I guess is also okay since so many artists do it. We're only digesting the difference. The fact that it's a group picture doesn't mean she has to turn into Justin Bieber.

This is about the fact that it would literally take her like three more minutes to make less groups since they're only 24 people and the pics are seemingly 4 groups of 6

This is about her not even having an assistant or whatever pre-sign a ****ing tourbook and give it to us (which I know wasn't advertised but still)

This is about Live Nation throwing you in a Hunger Games arena and leaving you to decide who stands next to her

This is about not even being able to touch her because she is in costume and make up, when she is only in make up. The same way they tell us not to touch her and we respect it, they can tell us that we can hug her, just not touch her face or whatever

People who already had their experience may have loved it, others haven't, and tbh I am so so so looking forward to mine. But the fact is Gaga changed, and making bullshit excuses about it to reassure yourselves is just not healthy lol. And also without sounding like a bitch, people like you who don't even have the package shouldn't be chiming in because telling other people what to do is just not the t, you're not the one who payed $1500 for it and you're just adding fuel to the fire

who will love me when the night is over

Guys it's not that she doesn't love her fans anymore, it must be the tour organization. A company thing or contractual thing. I bet she is just as bothered as we are

If she was bothered she would do something about it

Somebody who contacted live nation on a Facebook group was told that the package was created and sent to them by Gaga's management. So no tour organization, company or contractural thing, it comes from her and she obviously isn't bothered to make 9k per pic lol

I am not telling you what is okay or how you should behave. I have just shared my opinion and my perspective. And yeah your assumption happens to be correct: I haven't bought the Ultimate Backstage Experience package (even though I have saved money in advance for this tour). As soon as details emerged it was quite clear that this package would offer less and cost more and I chose not to buy the package (and at that price there are plenty of things and experiences that are worthy, more than taking a picture with Gaga). Simple as that. + I find it quite arrogant to claim that I cannot discuss the topic just because I do not own those tickets.

And please, let me give you some advice: in the end it's just business, do not expect more than it's promised.

I'd rather her not do it at all than half ass it honestly.

The truth is, it's just business you guys. They charge so much for a meet and greet because they can get away with it. If the meet and greets wouldn't have sold for 1500, they would have lowered the prices and the people could have got to her for a lower price and still get the same experience. But since the tickets were bought, it's just happening like this. I just hope Gaga will put some of this "hard earned" money back into her art somehow. Like, shoot more than 2 music videos for your next era ok? (MR doesn't count, the cure didn't get a video either)

MR music video was probably made with the Apple Music commercial budget. :selena:

There's nothing to defend though. It's your choice if you want to pay thousands of dollars for a photo with someone. Gaga is not obligated to do nothing besides what she wants to do.

the stage is probably a huge reason for the price too :selena:

No where in the package does it say "meet and greet" so I'm confused as to why anyone is complaining about not meeting or greeting her :emma:

Though I do wish she'd do proper meet and greets this time around rather than just photos. Hopefully for LG6's tour they'll be back and I can drop the money for it

Katy perry said in her WWW live stream that she is ending meet and greets because she feels that she cannot deliver the individual time that her fans who paid so much deserve during the m&gs. Plus, she always felt drained after each m&g and it just wasnt a healthy thing for her to do. I think Gaga should own up to it, be honest about it, and just end any sort of packages where fans have to pay to meet her.

Im á Katycat on Fridays #tgif
