AmericanGUY 4,609
so recently i listened to the NY Times Popcast, a podcast where music critics discuss artists, music, and the industry. and the episode was called "Can K-pop conquer America?" personally, i can't stand K-pop music nd their stans but i still listened because i have to be educated on something i hate. don't come for me K-pop stans it's just a preference. but in the episode, their K-pop expert was discussing how K-pop artists promote their albums. it's something that should be done here in the States and worldwide tbh. if i'm not mistaken, a K-pop band announces albums around 2 weeks ahead of release. songs are released at 2 or 6 at a time. singles, albums, and performances are released around the same time. it's a steady stream of content and hype. giving the artists tons of hype to jump up the charts, and if it has longevity it's successful. isn't that such a better promotional schedule in a streaming-dominated industry rather than announcing and album months ahead of release then dropping 12 songs? maybe that's why those K-pop groups have such longevity and hype, they're constantly being talked about since they promo so quick. imagine ARTPOP on a K-pop promo schedule ꧁ 𝕛'𝕧𝕖𝕦𝕩 𝕡𝕒𝕤 𝕞𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕚𝕣 𝕥𝕠𝕦𝕥𝕖 𝕤𝕖𝕦𝕝𝕖 ꧂

K-Pop isn't from N.K, nor does N.K. allow it's citizens to listen to K-Pop. It's a product of South Korea. ❤ x ❤

babs 5,093
Ok so yeah, I'm not really here for the whole k-pop thing either, but I can't deny that these people DELIVER. I mean, yeah it seems a bit robotic at times, but you will hardly be dissapointed by the way these people construct their eras. ALL the videos are good and nothing is half assed. American commercial artists could learn a thing or two about them tbh.
imwoahvicky 4,248
@juju and I coming for blood in this thread anyways, the possibility of k-pop conquering America can happen well enough in years, maybe even 10 or less. worldwide acclaimed G-Dragon (i don't stan him hardcore but he is the most popular male idol in Korea and well deserved ) is already selling out arenas in America as we speak (maybe stadiums too? but he probably sold those out too if he booked them ) without any hardcore promo, etc. he's already breaking into the market at an extreme rate as we speak he's also well-respected in the fashion industry like in France Girls Generation back in their days also sold out arenas in America, and since k-pop is becoming more popular internationally they can break into the market much more easily eventually ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜
imwoahvicky 4,248
also, k-pop music isn't that different from what you hear in English, some songs can be different from the average mainstream radio we hear in the states, but it's literally in a different language with much better videos and visuals as a whole not to mention production is usually always top-notch and destroys anything your fav decides to do ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜

K-Pop stars are always delivering incredible videos, concepts, looks, and performances. America isn't ready for its pop stars to be shook like that. ❤ x ❤
