I like joanne but I think just about all your other points are valid.  see above where I give my storyline idea for the album. I think she is telling a story. I think she has been playing the part of 'joanne' all throughout this period- someone less experienced and more reticent vis a vis fame in general. jwt -I'm hoping- is where gaga breaks out and we see the yupluster we've grown to expect.

I hope that the next album will be a little more avant garde and theatrical, much like her previous ones. And to be clear, I don't want her to always do the same thing, I just hope for the things that caused me to become a fan in the first place to return (theatricality, crazy outfits, crazy dance music, close connection with fans).

i sort of agree with you on the part that you feel like she "stepped back" a bit, i mean, she was so fierce in the past and this era she was always like: "i'm not afraid to break!" and i mean it was a little disappointing, but i still love her.

I actually agree with a lot that you've said! I'm barely active these days on this site, but still come to see what's new/fresh/etc because I still love her. I feel like it's been a really rough year for her and things are just different now. Hoping for the best next era

I respect OP opinion, but I wish people would just leave if they want to leave. Like do we need a goodbye thread from everyone that wants to leave?

I think the Metallica performance and some of the slay worthy looks she was wearing around that time are a preview of what is to come. I think she is going to do a metal theme next.

I really hope you're right.

"Then came ARTPOP, a complete turn in terms of sound, but still Gaga. Visuals, outfits, probably the best tour of her life."

And after that I stopped reading

Seems more like your in it for the success and craziness rather than Gaga expressing her talent and story. Gaga had many performances, outfits, interviews, etc, but I guess we ignore things that we just don't like. At least you said your peace in a mature way unlike some people do.

"There were almost no interviews and no performances. No message at all. The promotional campaign was almost inexistent. There was nothing to follow or to discuss, really."

You think the album has "no message" - cool, that's your personal interpretation of the music and your personal opinion, which means it isn't necessarily true. The artist and songwriters behind the album will gladly tell you that this is not the case. But saying that the promotional campaign was almost inexistent? Sorry, but this is factually incorrect.

A little glimpse into this thread will tell you that this record had an extensive album campaign. She didn't sell 1 million copies of the album worldwide overnight, she had to work for it. The fans had enough to discuss, especially those who stuck around and passionately followed the era because they genuinely like the album and appreciate the approach she's taking.

And if you expected mammoth-sized promotion like back in the Born This Way era, well sorry, those times are long gone and the industry has changed. She can promote her music without being overexposed. Many other artists don't even do half the promotion that she did for Joanne.

Success? I was here for Gaga during ARTPOP, even though she was being DRAGGED to the pits of hell...

Were you here during the BTW Era? That was a promotional campaign, and that's why it sold 1.2 during the first week in the US. Joanne had barely any promotion compared to BTW.

I guess I don't understand why you choose to leave Gaga because you didn't like her new era. And you mentioned sales. And again, there were plenty of performances, interviews, etc. It's cool that you may not like the direction she's taking, but I don't know why people have to apologize for it.
