So true. I called this on the last Kid Rock thread. I said Republican would fall in line with celebrities who spew out their rhetoric. They'd place a Kid Rock or an Eminem in office while Democrats would laugh at the idea of a Kanye or even a George Clooney or Oprah political run. We need to get our noses out of the clouds.

To be fair, everyone should LAUGH at (and discourage) Kanye West from running for any type of office.

Don't get us wrong. I mean there are plenty of well educated people on both sides of the political ideology. However, there are just as many people voting in American where people don't leave their small towns/brains, speak with people of the same background, and don't care to educate themselves. Truthfully Americans don't really learn about anything in school when it comes to valuable info. That's a bit of a general statement though. There are definitely people in rural areas that are very smart and open minded. But it's not like we're teaching our young people what healthcare or taxes are. A lot people think ObamaCare is probably a bomb hidden under their homes.. Sarcasm, but you get the point.

At least George or Oprah would be competent haha. I could definitely see George running. Idk, maybe we've reached a point in American history were we can't rely on career politicians. Maybe electing anyone is what America needs. Then those elected can run the country into the ground and teach those celebrity voting frauds a lesson..

I do, however, think that laws need to be made so that being a senator/rep doesn't equal having a high wage, politicians can't receive donations or money from corporations, they can't campaign during their terms, they receive the healthcare that everyone else gets, etc. That'll definitely make them work. But of course it won't ever happen..

With the The Rock and Kid Rock running for office, this celebrity-consumerism obsessed nation is rapidly declining. 

I get it--people are exhausted by career politicians. But how about we put some intelligent, well-rounded academics in office? Let's vote in the scientists, the astronomers, social scientists, and so forth. Oh, right, brains aren't glamorous or sexy or marketable  

Anyway, if this trend continues in the coming election years, I'm done.

I think it comes down to the fact that we shouldn't have to rely on these people. Republican Party has started a trend of doing whatever it takes to win, and that's not a good trend. You nominate and elect good knowledgeable people, you don't just pick up the hottest ticket and place a bet.

This presidency could be a major turning point for US politics. Future Americans will judge the age and intelligence of our society on this period and find us wanting. If Kid Rock wins this, I suspect that he will be in for a world of problems like Trump, becoming a puppet, lack of experience, too many voices throwing their hat in and none of them great.

Because Kid Rock has done a lot for the state of Michigan. This piece gives a decent take on his appeal:

This is a really terrible path the USA is on right now. How is the future gonna look like? I don't think that States like New York, California and so on wanna be ruled by Idiots like Trump and Kid Rock, and if it continue like this, i can really see them separate from the USA.

Republicans have been voting celebrities into office for decades. Reagan, Swartanegger that Wrestlemania guy. But their vile rhetoric against Hollywood celebrities are only echoed in the Democratic party and somehow completely ignored when a celebrity is running as a Republican.

Republicans are working in the short term. They don't understand long term policies as evidenced by their healthcare law, SCOTUS, Muslim ban, climate change, environmental regulations, etc.
