Wolf Boy 3,165
A video for Races was never shot, however one of her home made montage ones was once uploaded for Races, but taken down by her soon after. It's on YouTube though.
Mittens 228
Has anyone ever read Lolita? She was clearly REALLY inspired by this book, I didn't realize how much so until I read it. Its a really great read for a Lana fan, it makes me look at the album so differently.
Wolf Boy 3,165
Lana has always seemed to have a thing for young girls with older men, not sure if it's a Lolita book thing, or just a general point of reference for her. Put Me In A Movie from her old album followed a same theme.

Its a really great read for a Lana fan, it makes me look at the album so differently. It makes me upset when critics say she makes out of place references lyrically to Lolita, because they clearly haven't read the book. The album is very much inspired by Nabokov. Can't help it if people don't read

Theres obvious things, and things that are more subtle/coincidence. Things I've noticed - Going to put it in a spoiler for anyone planning to read the book! :) The first line of the book is "Light of my life, fire of my loins." He talks about a girl named Carmen, whos alarmin and charmin... "It's alarming honestly how charming she can be" - Carmen Theres a scene where hes lusting over little girls playing at the park.... "Kiss me in the p.a.r.k park tonight" "Could be kissing my fruit punch lips in the bright sunshine" He refers to Lolita as a "china doll" "I can be your china doll..." The main character grew up with lots of money on the riviera. "Money, notoriety and rivieras." Humbert will love lolita "until the end of time" Those are just off the top of my head, I can make a new connection on almost every page. Like I said, some of it is obvious, some of it is borderline reaching, but its still kinda fun to read and look way too far into, because it has clearly inspired a lot on the album. Aside from that, the book is set in the 50's and is written.... incredibly. The whole thing is just yelling Lana at my face. I highly recommend it to any big Lana fan... it sheds a lot of light on where she gets her inspiration from. :spin:

Its a really great read for a Lana fan, it makes me look at the album so differently. Yep, it's a beautifully written book, and one of my favourites - which is one of the things I first fell in love with about her LDR album. The Lolita song/references. Also she used footage from both Lolita movies (tho the 90s remake *whichiswaybetter* was featured more) in one of her old self-produced videos.. gah which song was it! It leaked recently.. Lana has always seemed to have a thing for young girls with older men, not sure if it's a Lolita book thing, or just a general point of reference for her. Put Me In A Movie from her old album followed a same theme. She said in one interview that she reads the same books over and over again, and listed Nabakov (author of Lolita) as one of the authors :)
