Ozzy8923 9
She didn't promote over here at ALL, so the public just weren't interested (same thing happened with Madonna's latest album) As for the Will collab, it it's another party tune, I'm sure it'll do well for him, but that won't be down to Britney. UK radio/the GP seem to be completely over her Thank You! Now, if only Britney would promote in the UK. Oh Well. :bird:
StrawberryBlond 14,263
Another question, not necessarily Gaga-related, but simply out of curiosity, does Britney get a lot of airplay in the UK? I know Hold It Against Me managed to peak at #6 (I believe sales are around 145K) and Till the World Ends managed to peak at #21 and the rest of the Femme Fatale singles didn't chart in the UK () but it seems like she is REALLY irrelevant in the UK (Femme Fatale peaked at #8 and only went Gold, which I think equates to 100K in sales). I mean she used to have really successful singles here. Even during Blackout which was arguably her most rushed/messy era she had a top 2 hit (Piece of Me). I figured she lost some predominance here during Circus especially after the X-Factor Womanizer performance and the lip-syncing controversy getting her all that bad media (In the US, I've observed lip-syncing is taken more lightly than in the UK). EDIT: She will have a collaboration with Will.i.am who, I believe, recently topped the UK Singles chart with his latest single. Do you think it will bring Britney back into UK radio/music scene? Like Jase said, her lack of promotion is a big reason behind her poor sales. It's like British radio won't play anyone who the UK public isn't feeling right now. To be honest, Britney has never promoted much in the UK. Her last live UK performance was on X Factor in 2008, when she performed Womanizer. Despite being watched by 13 million viewers, the highest rated episode the show has ever had, the single still only went to #3. Even when she was successful here, she rarely promoted and we never got many UK tour dates either. Ironically, her Circus tour had the most UK dates ever when the public was officially over her. It seems that Britney's label think the UK has little to no importance which is stupid because ever since her debut, the UK has been one of Britney's biggest markets. Up until 2004, we gave her five #1's (yet she didn't get her second US #1 until a decade after Baby One More Time) and she has a further 15 top ten hits here. Even her third album, the one that America and the world let flop, she got four UK top 10 singles. She got her last #1 with Everytime in 2004 and then it all fell apart. That massive four year break ruined any chances she had of continuing to perform well here. The UK is notoriously fickle and when an artist disappears for that length of time, it's like everyone forgets about them. A big reason that she got any top 10 singles from Blackout was because her breakdown was so well publicised that the public sat up and took interest...but not enough to get her to #1. I think it's odd how it's when she's no longer the massive pop star that she once was is when the US decided to start giving her a run of #1's (Womanizer, 3, Hold It Against Me). Her management, for whatever reason, have always concentrated on her following in America more than anywhere else, even though she has always had far more international success. Thank You, you basically summed up what I wanted to confirm. I also found it ironic that Britney's singles performed very well in the UK before her breakdown and performed poorly after her breakdown for the most part and the complete opposite happened here in the US. She got her biggest digital and radio singles in the US from 2008 and forward. It's interesting. Gimme More was her biggest hit in the US since ...Baby One More Time (until Womanizer came soon after) and the song became her second highest-peaking single in the US at the time, even after the infamous VMA 2007 performance. :rip:

Jim 1
Yes! Finally we can see BTW's status. So it will be at 923k before the tour. After BTWB it should be at around 928k hopefully! I'm expecting it to cross 950k this year! and than with ARTPOP promo and all 1,000,000!! I'm sure it'll sell more than 5k after the tour.

StrawberryBlond 14,263
What happened to the Lucy Spraggen song? Did it get deleted because she's in X Factor now and can't release independent songs while she's a contestant?
