StrawberryBlond 14,264
Justice Collective @ #01 with sales of 269k, James Arthur down to #02 with sales of 224k Emeli Sande is #01 in the albums with sales of 178k Her chart run: 1-2-1-3-2-4-3-5-5-6-9-8-2-3-1-6-6-6-4-5-5-7-10-8-3-4-1-1-2-4-5-5-7-5-5-9-2-3-6-7-8-7-7-4-1- [45 wks] I said it earlier in the year, but she's the new Adele. Wow, six non-consecutive weeks at #1. Dido's Life For Rent still holds the record for that - ten weeks at #1 on the UK chart and 18 non consecutive weeks on the European Top 100 chart, but it'll be hard for anyone to top that. But they can sure come close. Top 100 albums: http://www.officialc...m/albums-chart/ Kylie #28, probably sold at least 175k to date. Which is ahead of both MDNA and the expectations of her record label for this project. So happy for her. I think the quality of her singing surprised a lot of people and this is a great album for the festive period. To think she's sold more copies of a re-imagining compliation than Madonna has for her studio album that she toured with (and which was released 9 months ago) is crazy. https://www.digitals...e-lovebird.html Heartbreaking. She's so talented. I don't know what went wrong. The lies about her album doing "really well" make the article even sadder. It's sad how Leona doesn't promote and can't crack the top 200 when plenty of artists debut at #1 with no promotional appearances (Rihanna and Rita Ora, to name but a few this year). This may well be a cue for her to release Glassheart as the next single, as a dubstep club banger might encourage radio stations to play it and attract casual non fans. For her album to have dropped out of the top 100 after just 9 weeks is shocking. Just like Alexandra, she waited too long to release new material and paid the price for it. And oddly, I don't think Simon cares. He focuses primarily on his male acts, even though Olly and OD didn't win. Boys are just more marketable and tend to sell better, so their success makes up for Leona's failures. If she releases another album, Leona will be the first XF winner to release the magic number of 4 albums on the Syco label and she'll be given £1 million by doing so (until then, you earn peanuts from a so-called £1 million recording contract), so she'll definitely be compensated handsomely. Yup, Glassheart is the only song which will do anything for her. If they don't go with that for the next single, then I'm afraid she's pretty much done. Glassheart (the album) has so far only sold 70,000 copies which is absolutely SHOCKING when you take into account how huge she once was. Such a damn shame. StrawberryBlond 14,264
Yup, Glassheart is the only song which will do anything for her. Glassheart (the album) has so far only sold 70,000 copies which is absolutely SHOCKING when you take into account how huge she once was. Such a damn shame. Glassheart was clearly designed to be a very commercial single at some point, ideal for when the album starts drying up. If Syco don't release it, they're fools. I'm not a big fan of it, but it could re-ignite the album somewhat. Leona's attempted a modern makeover but she still hasn't given up on her trademark ballads and that's, unfortunately, what's holding her back. People just aren't into ballads anymore, unless they're Adele or an XF winner's single. But at least 70,000 copies is better than Alexandra's dismal 10,000 or so. At this rate, Little Mix will only have one more album left in them. Maybe the tide is turning when it comes to the case of the female winners doing better than the males. StrawberryBlond 14,264
Wow, post-Christmas sales have really shook up the charts. Justice Collective have fallen right down to #13 just after they got Christmas #1 and Stay has fallen right down to #12 despite holding on to a solid #4 position for over 2 weeks (I wonder what made it drop so suddenly today? Or were the other downloads just a much bigger volume than usual?) I guess things like Christmas programmes about the biggest hits of the year provided considerable boosts for a lot of artists (plus, iTunes vouchers for Christmas have to be taken into account) and everyone's reminiscing and isn't really thinking about new releases right now. I have to hand it to Stay - it's doing much better than I thought it would, considering it's a Rihanna ballad, which normally don't do well. The evil side in me hopes its popularity will have run its course by the time the music video's released, so it doesn't stand a chance of #1, at least here. I want Rihanna to realise that she can't just release any song and have it go to the top with little to no promo.
