The Olympics will only help Adele a couple weeks.

Her 18 months are almost up - that's about as long as a singer can be red-hot without doing something equally marvellous to re-ignite it.

If Adele had set herself to release an album early next year, she really could become huge and a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, but that is not the case, she herself said that she won't release an album for at least 3 years.

She's already working on a new album. She will be back before 3 years. She could drop a new album as early as mid 2013.

If that's the case, then I can certainly see Adele having a successful era after 21. Of course, not as successful as her current era but still a good one nonetheless. But I just hope she doesn't win another 6 Grammy's because it would just be boring to have the same winner so often.

Unlikely, as the Grammies didn't renominate Swift despite stellar sales and reviews.

Taylor Swift was nominated (and won) in a weak year due to her record sales + teen appeal bringing in the ratings.

The Grammys legitimately love Adele which was why she won awards before she was popular. In fact, if the competition is weak enough this year, she could get another AOTY nomination this year for her live album.

No, Adele already said in her most recent interviews that she had no intention of a new album next year.

It wasn't a weak year - that was the year Gaga won 3 BRIT awards and Beyonce was also multi-nominated for Sasha Fierce.

And The E.N.D (also nominated that year) sold about 11 million copies WW with their album and most of their singles performed VERY well (half of the year they were #1 on the Hot 100).

...I repeat, a weak year.

The Fame wasn't a very good album and I Am... Sasha Fierce was ok, but in no way deserving of Album of the Year.

The Grammys run on more than just success. Quality is also a factor.

Taylor had the best mix of quality + success when not too many albums in 2009 nailed down that combination.

So is Rihanna taking a break after Where Have You Been or is she going to keep going at it? :coffee:

And expect "Pound the Alarm" by Dear Old Nicki to be the summer #1 smash. It's coming on July 9th ;)

The Fame won Grammy-type awards in many European countries where dance music is respected.

Bey has won tons of Grammies and has great vocals, so don't dismiss her like BEP or Rihanna.

Ugh, I hate these "songs".

Only 2 pop females have won Best International Album at the BRITS this century - Gaga for The Fame and Kylie for Fever - so that's almost as impressive as winning AOTY at the Grammies.

The BRITs are fanvoted.

Objectively speaking, The Fame is not a great album. A lot of the songs are shallow and frankly, the material hasn't aged too well. Of course I thought it was deserving of its nomination and a win back in 2010 when I didn't know much better, but looking back, should it have won? No. And if 2009 were a better year for music, it probably wouldn't have even deserved its nod.
