That's a great example. I have no idea how she made Cheap Thrills and The Greatest so successful.

She doesn't show her face so maybe the GP thinks she's younger :poot:

Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and "sexy" in the same sentence:awkney:

Gaga is """sexier""" now than she was in 2011

Sia is 40 though???

...which is why she came up with the face-hiding gimmick.

I wish that weren't true.

adele transcends space and time.

Adele and Rihanna are not in their 30s. Bee does not have a hit single since 2010.

She looked 45

I know and not to be like those over sensitive people but in case you did, it's best not to always determine someone's age just because of how they look :selena:

Are you sure? I don't remember that being a reason

I'm not talking about a stated reason, I'm saying it's obvious.

It's a factor, definitely. The radio tends to support artists until they reach their 30's and then they start giving their singles reduced airplay and before you know it, they're not getting played at all. It's mad how radio thinks that only the youngest stars can make people tune in because the youngest ones are not the ones pulling in money from albums and tours at the moment. It's downright insulting how someone can make a song that follows every trend just to get radio play but the radio won't play it because they're considered too old. They make mature, experimental music and it doesn't get played. They make a generic song that radio loves and it doesn't get played. They can't win. There's no way Gaga's biggest hits would get played on the radio if she released them at the age she is now. Radio accepted a different sound because she was young and current. When she was no longer either of those things, they mysteriously are no longer here for innovation. Some radio stations are still playing Katy Perry continuously just because of who she is but I think she's just benefitting from the Prism wave. I think all that support will fade away when she brings out her next album. Gaga went through exactly the same thing with AP-Joanne.

While I think Selena, pretty as she is, is a bit too young looking for me to truly see her in that way, I think Ariana is the ultimate sex kitten. But yeah, I agree about Gaga. I don't get how the public thought she was hottest back when she started out. She just looked generically hot back then. As time has gone on, she's become more of a sex goddess as she's gained more confidence in herself. I don't know what the public struggle to find hot about long blonde hair, a slim figure, slashed-to-waist cleavage and a big ass. They sure have no problem finding any other celebrity who looks like that to be hot.

Beyoncé sells well with albums, but she's not that popular. Just look at the charts, no Lemonade song was THAT big.

Rihanna follows the market and jumps into trends (Calvin Harris, Drake, DJ Khaled).

Adele is Adele. I think she's overrated, but still very talented.

every ten years new musicians emerge and take the place of the ones from before.   Now its the young females but the older ones will still get a hit once in a while.

Beyonce on the radio? They only play her old stuff, I think Drunk in Love was the last single I heard on top 40 radios.

I don't think people look at the age that much, Katy is just having a hard time at the office now, let's not rule her out just yet. Gaga has always been polarizing especially after btw, plus she's seems to not be doing much for her music career again, her goals are diff and people around her are less professionals, we can see that in the general output

SHOOKGA

Geez I actually quite agree

Younger artists always tend go on the radio

And this only happens with Pop genres but not R&B

Weird huh
