Let's not pretend Gaga didn't know what she was doing with DWUW and R Kelly.

I really believe she thought she was being clever putting a rumoured paedophile on a song about no longer having control over public opinion ... before releasing the people will not appreciate the parallel messages. 

I don't believe for a second about her blaming Troy for the music video being rushed. She sounded excited about the video and wanted to make a controversial statement on the scale of Madonna's sex book.

Terry openly makes the proposition and openly publishes the images - I don't agree it is sex in exchange for fame (I don't think Terry has made anyone famous) but simply to be photographed by a critically acclaimed photographer. It's his whole shtick to extract eerily authentic sexual energy from his subjects. It's a really grey moral area though... Does his process justify the art he produces?

I'd say no but I actually do like his work when I don't think about the creepiness and exploitative nature of his work. (But hey then again I think photographing exotic culture and exhibiting them in a gallery is exploitation too)

Wow, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Isn't the whole message of Do What U Want to not believe all of the lies the media puts out about artists to try and destroy them? They did it to Michael, they did it to Gaga and they're doing it to R Kelly. And everyone still just eats it up and drags him for filth because of some claims made by a tabloid.

I can't at some of u excusing Gaga with "but she probably didn't know what he did" Gurl he's ****ing R Kelly. He's a high profile celebrity not some random guitar player she picked from the street. Also, the case and  his trial were well-documented. Don't bring in MJ because unlike him, there aren't videos of MJ peeing on underage kids. 

It is impossible for Gaga not to know about his history. And it's particularly painful in her case: A sexual assault victim herself and an activist against it, this decision was pretty much a self-slap and a middle finger to what she stood for. 

On the other hand, I'm sure it wasn't 100% her say. Interscope and her management then were probably on it as well. They were obviously try to outdo Miley at the moment. The combination of Terry richardson and R Kelly and the context of that video would have ripped through every shed of good rep Gaga had. She was very self-destructive during this phase of ARTPOP. 

But anyway, what's done is done. No use crying over spilt milk.

Sooo, with all due respect, please stop asking for the DWUW video or praying for it to leak. I, like Gaga, pretend it never existed. It's a blot on her career and she knows not to associate with it ever again. Us fans should help Gaga bury it, not try to dig it up with all these leak rumours. You know how much it will hurt her if the thing goes public. I mean, is it really what u want to see emulated drug rape done to Gaga by these scums?

I didn't say there was. I will bring up Michael along with Gaga and R Kelly all as examples of victims of negative media and tabloid rumours, whether true or not.

I seriously doubt this is true.  Maybe it is though.  It just seems too surreal for a high profile celebrity.  Then again Kelly is a pervert pedo.  Buzzfeed is the source though.  Seems so weird.  Like when Michael Jackson's child molestation rumors came about.

It's not rape if it was consensual...

He didn't do it against their will. They wanted to be photographed by him, knowingly be more publicized

Yeah no, rape under duress or coercion is still rape  The same way saying "Yes" while completely intoxicated doesn't make it not rape. He had their careers and futures in his hand, so he was in a position of power and he used it to get women to do what he wanted. Maybe he rationalized it like "Yeah, they could say no and throw their careers away, but they said yes" but no  

I see how things can be grey with what is coercive or not, but people need to learn that enthusiastic and especially ongoing consent is what should be expected tbh.

Okay so I'm always the first one to defend the ARTPOP era and Gaga's decisions during that time, and to reject ideas of that era being a mess because of her part in it all. But the one thing that Gaga did during that era which I don't stand by is collaborating with R Kelly. I just don't understand how a compassionate, advocate for human rights, with a strong moral compass could team herself up with somebody like him. He must have convinced her that all the rumours were fake, and she must have believed him because she was experiencing a lot of criticism herself at the time. It's the only way it makes sense.
