It's a disorder, not a defect I believe. 

OT: Who cares? If it makes others feel comfortable. I am male but i'm certainly not assed if I get called everyone. It doesn't detract or benefit my life but it may benefiy someone elses.

I guess, a defect is an imperfection, blemish or deficiency so I guess it could be either.

Not quite, their sex is determined through karyotypes because their x, or y chromosomes are not correctly reproduced. Examples of this are if a man is born with two x chromosomes and one y they can have partial female genitalia and male genitalia and it is a birth defect. There's multiple different types of it that need more attention because many of them can be fatal, or cause similar effects to their autosomal counterparts like downs syndrome.

I think you're not aware that gender and sex are different things.

"Gender" is how people identify themselves—and there are 3 (or 4, depending how you count it) genders: male, female, genderfluid/nonbinary.

"Sex" is the biological aspects of someone. For example, guys have a penis and testicles and girls have a vagina and ovaries.

There are more than two genders.

My point was that just because they're intersex doesn't mean that they're a 3rd gender. Non binary/Genderfluid aren't real. There's no science behind them.

Like I said, the biological aspects of men and women—which is more than just reproductive organs, AKA things like "broad shoulders"—is sex. 

Gender, by definition, is: "The state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones)."

Gender is a social construct, it's how someone identifies themselves. There is no "science" behind it. You can just add a few elements together and say "this is what makes up gender" because that's not how it works. Gender has 100% to do with social and cultural differences. Traditional things like girls wearing dresses, or guys wearing suits are aspects that can affect gender.

Intersex =/= having a third gender, which I agree with because gender and sex aren't 100% compatible. I can be a guy and still identify as a female, or a male, or perhaps I want to defy gender confirmatory norms and be genderqueer/nonbinary.
