I don't know how i'd feel about that (assuming the UK would be included) because culturally and politically we have a lot of differences such as entirely free healthcare for under 18s, our stances on immigration are different and i would fear a less (how can i say this politely) does not see past the end of their own nose type of person would rule over us, despite the UK having a powerful monarchy, but i still wouldnt trust us to rule Europe either. Although i would argue that the Pope's opinion doesn't really matter to me personally because I don't care for people who cant separate church from state (vatican city for example) and their opinions are always clouded by age old religious beliefs which just dont work in modern life. (I'm assuming on the basis that he believes the Pop should rule over Europe as a country ofc here). So i'm on the fence, for example I voted against brexit because I believe a lot of the reasons for the british ppl to leave weren't as transparent as people think and where actually clouded xenophobic and racist views. And we should be inspiring togetherness and unity in a harsh modern life where terrorism from eastern extremists is a threat to our democracy and even within our own walls self destruction is happening on a governmental and social level. For example the biggest issue was UK residents were against turkey joining the EU because they believed "more muslims and terrorists would overrun the UK easier".
