There really is a growing divide between people's sexual orientations and who they might fall in love and develop romantic feelings for, and that progressive pursuit actually transcends the troubles we usually associate with infidelity and jealousy. Wow. I'm in an open relationship myself which I couldn't be more proud of, and I find this SO insulting, especially coming from someone who (I'm assuming) is coming from the same LGBTQA+ community as myself.

I'm not in an open relationship because I'm 'greedy' or 'not satisfied', the reason I'm in an open relationship is because it eliminates any pressure and negativity that I've previously experienced from my past monogamous relationships which ended up hurting me deeply. Ever since I've been in an open relationship, I've became a more expressive person, and because of that, I've gained so many valuable friendships and connections because I'm now not afraid to be who I am, and I live a happier and healthier life as a result of it.

I'm only emotionally involved with the one man, who I deeply love, and the openness has helped both of us so much in our own ways. I'm not writing this as an advocate for all of those who are in an open or poly relationship because every open and poly relationship is completely different to the next, which is totally amazing, but it's people like you who think they have a right to dictate who a person should love and you put our relationship status in a small little box that's downright makes me sick. Stay out of our business and just focus on yourself and your current/future relationships. <3

Side note: judging by the tone of voice in your comment, it just sounds like you've been f**ked over by someone who played with your emotions and now you stick that label onto those (e.g us) who do not deserve it, and for that, I'm sorry and I hope you finally move on with your life.

Open relationships are interesting. I'm not sure exactly how they work, does this mean they are both free to hook up with whoever they want whenever they want? Do they need to get permission from their partner first? Sorry if it's in the full article, I only read the snippet from OP.

I am not saying it's a bad thing, but it's not exactly something I think should be glamorized or brought a ton of attention to either.
