Is JWT Going To Be A Throwback Tour?

So, what do you think?

Personally, I am expecting it to be very much a tour that celebrates Gaga's discography in it's varied entirety. Whilst I am sure she will perform the majority of Joanne (but perhaps not all), I believe that Gaga herself will be at the centre of this tour - as opposed to any particular era.

Gaga has said that 'Joanne' has played a part in all of her albums. Since The Fame, we have been very aware of the story, Joanne's omnipresence, and what it means to Gaga on an artistic level. Naming an entire tour in honour of her therefore, makes me believe that the tour will celebrate Gaga's collective career thus far. It makes sense to me. If, for example, she went for something more like 'The Perfect Illusion Ball' (or something...), then perhaps I wouldn't be expecting such a cross-album focus.

I also think that this is the right time in Gaga's career for her to go all out with fan favourites, GP favourites and in the recreation of iconic moments. After all, this is what defined both Gaga's Super Bowl show and her Coachella set... which she has already explicitly told us the tour will 'grow' from and, essentially, be a heightened, extended version of.

There's also the fact that Joanne, whilst fabulous, does not totally serve itself to a typical Gaga show. Interestingly, I think Gaga believes this too. I mean, we were all expecting Coachella to be very Joanne heavy and we ended up with the complete opposite. She also has avoided a lot of high profile television platforms this time round. I think she knows that this tour is going to have to be of a more cross-era approach in order for her to deliver what she knows we want.

There's never been a Gaga tour that wasn't basically every song on the corresponding album. As we get further into her career that seems harder and harder to do. I'm also interested to see what she does. I think she will cut some Joanne tracks this time but who knows.

All of her tours are "throwback tours" though. They all acknowledge the culmination of her previous tours and injects new flavor into them.

I think the most "throwbacky" of all of her tours is the ARTPOP Ball. You clearly see her tapping into alot of references from The Fame and The Fame Monster. I think BTWB is her least "throwbackiest"

TLDR. Technically you're not wrong.

Oh I know but I think even more than before this will be a cross-era tour. I am not expecting Joanne to have the dominant presence, really, at all... which if correct, will be unusual considering it is the current era.

And although the set lists have honoured different parts of her career, each tour so far has had a very distinctively era defined look, vibe and overall atmosphere. The ARTPOP Ball for example, in it's approach and design, is nothing like the other tours. The same can be said for BTWB.

This time round, I do not think the Joanne aesthetic will be that prevalent. I mean, I am sure she will wear some hats and have some country-inspired looks, but I do not think it will be as low key and all 'music not the bling' as this era has been.

At this point I'd rather have a throwback tour than hear every song from Joanne. I'd be satisfied if she performs Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons, A-YO, John Wayne, Diamond Heart, And Joanne plus a bunch of throwbacks from each album.

Well if she did ten songs from Joanne (all the solo songs on the standard), she'd have plenty of time for old songs. I think she'd be able to fit 3 per album.

Joanne is so short and she's probably gonna cut off Hey Girl which is the longest song on the album. So we have 12 Joanne tracks which equals 38.45 mins. This means that she will have a loooot of time for performing all the hits + some fan favorites.

Yeah, I think this is gonna be like the Lady Gaga World Tour. I'm pretty sure she will perform songs like I Like It Rough, Dance In The Dark, Bloody Mary and Gypsy.

I wouldn't call it a throwback tour, but I believe Gaga may perform more fan favorites than usual. Plus the only Joanne songs that may get cut are Grigio Girls and Hey Girl.

I was gonna say this.

She's in an interesting position, where she has a relatively short time frame of new songs (including bonus tracks, excluding Hey Girl), and a longer time frame to fill up with other material- be it new songs, or old hits/fan-favorites.

My guess is that the tour is going to be a combination of Joanne ("here's my new material that you all love"), a few fan-favorites ("God these dumb twinks never shut up about Scheisse jfc"), and old-hit single ("you won't forget who I am").

I wonder what the aesthetic of it is going to be. If we're going by the general pattern of SB51 and Coachella, it's likely going to be a combination- the more simple Joanne aesthetic mixed with more "iconic" aspects of her past wardrobe.

Although, the promotional material, I feel like, kind of hints at a lot of neon a la John Wayne. idk

I agree. I like ARTPOP, but I didn't know how much I missed it until she shafted it during SB51.

The Applause karaoke interlude at Coachella was cute, though, and wouldn't mind something cheeky and colorful like that on the tour. That said, she should perform at least one thing from it. Maybe DWUW, or even Venus (which is probably her favorite, as it's her production baby).

Five is a bit ambitious...

I would love the most for Venus, MANiCURE, Sexxx Dreams and Applause to be performed.
