Thomas P 18,479
I think it's Lorde undoubtedly I would put gaga, but I feel like the people I'm talking about are teenagers and really young adults, and Gaga is more an every generation artist, so don't come for me you savage beasts. Anyway back to Lorde I'm 16, and my friends and I have never ALL obsessed over the same albums except with hers. Back in grade 7, Pure Heroine came out, and we all bonded over our mutual L. O. V. E. for that masterpiece. This year we were a bit older (and understood that album more). I'm the only person who actually gets hyped over album releases from artists () ((except my best friend, cause we both freaked the **** out for Lemonade)). I always get pumped for artists that I might not even be a Stan for (hey Katherine ) but they neveeerrrr care about any album or song releases. So after saying all that, when we heard about Green Light, and later Melodrama, we were all almost crying (there is more than 3 people, it was almost my entire school). There hasn't been an artist that I think sums up an entire generation like Lorde. With Pure Heroine, she had the same exact outlook as we all have on the world we live in, and with Melodrama, she described our personal lives perfectly. She has made songs that feed into our most depressing and most euphoric moments, and she's shown that teenage artists can do more than just twerk, and dress in school girl outfits (no matter how flawless and iconic those things are ). Shes demonstrated TALENT in both songwriting and performing. Honeslty she's THAT artist for me, and imo THAT artist for this generation. But you pick, for the milenials (17 and under). Who's the artist of the generation? PS: Sorry for the jumping from subject to subject. I can't explain things in logical orders y'all PPS: Before when I said she was THAT artist for me, I didn't mean she was my favourite, Gaga and Bey are still above her for me, but by THAT artist I mean the one who I relate to the most, so once again, don't come for me you thirsty trolls I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. Decodekid 28,221
kinda off topic but i also hate how "Gaga" cannot be called '"artist of this generation" because she was at her peak during two completely different periods of times. End of the 2000's (2008-2009) and the beginning of the 2010's (2010-2013) so she's like so stuck in the middle, you're not able to say that's she was the artist of that decade.
