You guys need to stop comparing Gaga and Madonna. Joanne era has proved to me how different they are, just let it go.

As for some of you, you don't need to drag Gaga either to make a point.

OT: Madonna is the most iconic female pop star of all time. No doubt about it. Whether you like her or not, everyone should honestly have some level of respect for her success and artistry.

Gagaism

Gaga is the artist of my life like another level, but I LOVE and stan MADONNA. A truly legend with a history of great and unique achievements in pop music that deserves all the respect and we can not forget about.

I and other educated people know. She's working with her charity organization Raising Malawi.

Just because she's currently not in the spotlight doesn't mean she's irrelevant doing nothing :sis:

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

Okay

It's way too stupid to compare someone who is in the industry for 35 years and someone who isn't even a decade. So lets take a look at the time when Madonna was at Gaga's age/years in music.

Madonna at 30/31:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Like_a_Prayer_(album)#Charts

Gaga at 30/31:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanne_(album)#Charts

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_Illusion#Charts

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Million_Reasons#Charts

Madonna's tour for her first "flop":

1993 - $116.05 million in 2016 dollars

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girlie_Show_World_Tour#Shows

Gaga's tour for her first "flop":

2014 - $83 million

I can really go on and on and on.

I feel bad for doing this :diane: but some of yall need to take off your stan goggles :awkney::awkney:

We're talking about if Madonna is relevant NOW in comparison to Gaga

So can Drake. Does that make him more of a legend than Madonna? No.

(Macrumble tho. I laughed.)

my point is, she may be Pop Queen but she's lost her touch with the GP hence she doesn't have hits anymore. I'm not gonna deny that she's a legend because she is and always will be

Witness was a #1 album too. That doesn't prove your point

24k Magic which is Bruno's newest album DIDN'T hit #1 but is still charting inside the Top 10 on BB200 (it was released around the same time as JOANNE, which left the charts for good).

But you said Gaga's career was over:ladyhaha:

I think if she still has #1 BB charting albums then it's far from over

Joanne was hardly the most mainstream album so it did pretty well

Not trying to shade Gaga, but isn't the tour the only receipt left for Gaga's current success? She hasn't had a smash hit for ages, her album sales is decent in the US, radio still reluctant to play her, and her streaming is pretty bad compared to her peers. The biggest commercial success she's had in recent years is how well JWT sold and fans have been using this to prove to haters that Gaga is still a force. You can't just shrug off the importance of touring as if it's not a factor. Not all old acts can still sell out arenas.... e.g. Mariah, Janet etc.

and also Gaga's career definitely lasted more than 3 years, and Madonna's career certainly isn't over or irrelevant. Some of you are clearly hater trolls and some are delusional monsters. Will Gaga ever match Madonna's legacy and longevity of success? very unlikely, but she has carved out her own lane and I think she's here to stay for a while. She's gaining a very solid HAC base so I think she's set for at least another 5 years if she targets a more mature audience.

If Gaga released more songs like The Cure with promo then radio WOULD be more inclined to play her stuff, and The Cure did very well on radio actually. But no, she's not like that anymore and insists on releasing singles that aren't radio friendly or are just trying too hard, such as G.U.Y. or Perfect Illusion or Million Reasons- each one of those singles are pop sort of but lean too far into EDM for G.U.Y., Perfect Illusion was too heavy for the radio and Million Reasons did alright on the radio in the US but it was a country ballad so..

And you never know what Gaga will do next. She could release an album full of The Cures and win the GP back. She could literally do anything because she's Gaga and is so versatile, so best not to predict how long her career will last because of how easy she can "chameleon" her way into other genres of music
