Madonna was dominating 20 years into her career.

So sit down

Don't get me wrong. She is so entertaining and people nowadays finally realize how talented she is (those Oscar performances and the National Anthem rendition + the collab with Tony did her wonders)

But she's not playing her cards right when it comes to her own music

She can't rely on Covers forever

She doesnt and thats why Joanne was her 4th Number 1 album:awkney: With a sold out tour:awkney: And she is in a movie with a lead role, with all bar 2-3 songs are orginal material:awkney: Something Madonna hasnt done:awkney:

Think about it. You noe have streaming numbers which contribute to the success of an artist. When Madonna was popular, she never have that. Gaga isnt a streamming force, however The Cure has been her best streammed song for a while. Gaga has to fight harder that what Madge had to do because the artists that release trendy music will always have streamming power against her. Madonna didnt have that

If you think about it streaming makes it easier for songs to be hits, you just press play and that directly helps the song chart, and some streaming services are also free. Gaga's teams is not investing enough on Gaga to make her a streaming force like she deserves to be and maybe they will in the future, but back in Madonna's days people had to actually get up, go outside, find a music store and buy a CD just to listen to a song, and pay cash $ for it. So imo it was easier to flop back then because people had to actually put effort to find and buy an artists's music and if they weren't interested in it enough they wouldn't even try it, while with streaming even if somebody just clicks on the song once, they are automatically helping the artist chart, and it's much easier for labels to manipulate playlists.

But yeah Madonna really is the most legendary pop artist ever existed..

The truth is that Gaga isnt actually irrelevant atm but you can tell that her legacy is over and she really isn't adding anything important to her career imo..

Madonna was experimenting so successfully and she really isn't remembered just for True Blue and Like A Virgin.Everything that she released UNTIL 2005 is really important for her discography. Her legeacy lasted 20-25 years.

Gaga is great and had a big impact  but let's not compare her to Madonna

But you're aware that singles commercial performance is not her priority right? Cause if she does, she could have made impactful visuals with PI and MR and lots of promotion.

But guess what? Joanne era's singles were initially flops yet she made impressive results with Super Bowl

Gaga and her team were just controlling her fame for good.

And oh, you forgot The Cure RqOi4s8.jpg

Back in the 00s I really thought Madonna would be getting smash hits til the day she retires/dies. But once she left Warner the ship sank... :selena: When Hung Up was everywhere and I realized that it was her I was shocked, because I always thought Madonna was some really old hollywood dead icon like Marilyn :sharon:

it's not that she serves bops anymore, it's also the radio who doesn't play music from artists older than 50. It's really sad, back in the 60/70/80/90/early 2000s pop music wasn't just people from 18-50... I mean Tina Turner, Cher, Stevie Wonder all had hits in their late 40s/early 50s. I hate ageists.

I agree but I think it's too early to judge where Gaga's career is going.

But that's almost what you addressed in your next post?

Nothing pop Released by Gaga after BORN THIS WAY adds anything new to her discography (and I said pop because that Tony collab is indeed an important moment in her career)

Any other "pop singer" would've been over, but Gaga actually had something interesting to offer: her great vocal performances (which I addressed in earlier posts) gave the GP a whole new perspective about her

Over.

But Madonna has only earned that status by being in the industry a long time. Its unfair to bring down Gaga just simply because she is still young in her carreer.

Madonna is over, nobody is interested in her anymore.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3510445/Madonna-toxic-figure-millennials-think-desperate-embarrassing-17-times-influential-Taylor-Swift.html

It doesnt take away from all the success she has had, or the things she has stood up for.

But she isn't relevant in todays pop world:awkney:

So yeah, she is a legend. People look up to her for inspiration. But I'd rather pick Stevie Wonder or Elton John over her anyday.

The fact that a "professor" had to conduct an academic research and interview 1000 people speaks volume to Madonna's relevance... :awkney:
