that wasn't the point? it was more of a take on what other cultures perceive their own cultures being represented as in performances, etc.

whilst everybody is being a white knight and preaching appropriation!!1 24/7 nonstop, said culture has no issue with what is being done as long as they aren't intentionally being harmful.

get mad when it's something that the targeted culture actually gets offended like native Americans. The Japanese had no problems with it and that's that on that. Every culture is different. One does not always apply to the other. Having said that, the Japanese being okay with it doesn't make any other cultures' complaint invalid (like I said about Native Americans above).

Why would someone in Asia who's a member of the dominant culture with no risk of losing any part of their identity care? It's more about how does this affect minorities who actually live in the country and their sense of belonging and how the dominant culture may view them as interchangeable, especially since this country has been utterly abysmal in terms of race relations since its very beginning? Pretending it's about people in mainland china or Japan is horrifically disingenuous and you know it.

Apart from 'Is math related to science?' being really controversial, the rest is not that bad honestly. Pew is definitely stretching to make like his making some point in that video.

Like that reptile comment on the therapist was totally unnecessary and disrespectful. That Unconditionally performance was also criticised by reviewers so what did Katy say wrong about it? Pew is just being extra in the video.
