The old Gaga

I'm trying to save in my memory the image of Gaga when she looked very special. I think that moment started in between Paparazzi and Bad Romance, and kept going until 2012, maybe being finished with the Fame fragance. Where did she go?

Gaga was such a mysterious force, so polemic and blasphemous, yet funny in a weird way. It's funny because a lot of people associate that moment with hits and money, but what I remember is a real energy coming from an artist who was unstoppable. It didn't matter to me if Marry The Night flopped, because she was still standing there and being so special. Looking so special.

Her new phase started with ARTPOP, I guess, or maybe after the hip, and I loved her for that too. I loved ARTPOP very much and defended her because she was doing her thing still. But looking back, it seems like she was not the same. She changed so much not only as a person but as an artist, and the change became more clear after C2C and Joanne. I still respect her because she's so good.

But here I show my respect for the past. I will always remember the old Gaga.

I understand what you mean :flutter: She was just... Something else. A goddess. I still feel like starting with ARTPOP Gaga became a completely different person. I'm not even saying which I prefer because her persona just changed so drastically it's not even comparable. She became a lot more human and accessible, but the mystery that surrounded her was gone, and it kinda of took away from the idea of LADY GAGA.

tf is this thread? :grr:Gaga has always been a fabulous artist.

She's changing, experimenting, trying new genres and artistic directions and we're loving it.

It's funny reading your name because somehow I feel the same way about Harry Potter. Like... I like Fantastic Beasts and I'm excited for the new movies, but it's not even close to the feeling I had with the Harry Potter movies and books. I wish JKR would write more books instead of movies/a play.

I want her to go back to that person but it's kind of sad that she never will, the current Gaga does not captivate me in the way she did before :lana:

That is an interesting analogy :ladyhaha: Well I am not very disappointed that JK is leaving the main series to rest (there was the Cursed Child incident but I prefer to wipe that off my memory), I'm glad she is creating new stories in the magical world, but yeah I do wish she actually wrote books as well. Her mystery novels are still really good so as long as she keeps writing I'm okay.

I agree with you. During The Fame Monster/Born This Way she had that mysterious aura around her, she lost it when ARTPOP era started

Don't miss the old Gaga a single bit. I feel like with every album I matured with Gaga. When I was younger, I was drawn to her "enigmatic" presence and loved figuring tiny clues out and what not but I'm old and tired and just want a real connection to other human people that is not compromised by constant games of riddle-me-this-riddle-me-that.

It was fun while it lasted, but it went away at the right time for me personally. I prefer the human Gaga over the robot.

I understand what you're saying, & I kind of feel like she lost a bit of the passion that she used to have in her early years. I mean I understand why she lost a bit of it though, she's basically conquered the world at one point (2009/2010) so I can see why she would like relax a bit and not be too passionate about things.

But I just miss that drive & passion.
