It's not necessarily Madonnas fault tbh. Literally in EVERY interview around that time, she was being asked "What do you think of Lady Gaga?". She was probably sick of it and would get flak either way. And why is everything about being "relevant"? To who? Madonna will always be relevant to me. I'm not sure why "relevance" is something that millenials think they own. You might want to check the box office receipts on her last 6 tours.

If she was sick of being asked about Gaga she could have requested not to be. Celebrities do that all the time. But no, she knew what she was doing in the interview with the infamous "reductive" comment. She was promoting MDNA at the time so it's no surprise she took advantage of the opportunity.

They sound alike in some parts, but it's definitely not a rip-off, there are many other songs who sound more similar and there wasn't a controversy like this one. The comparisons were sparked since Gaga and Madonna were both being compared all the time, if somebody else had released it no one would have noticed.

I don't remember media forcing Madonna to sing it at her tour though :oprah:

tbh i do hear some similarities in the whole vibes of both songs. but honestly, they are not THAT similar for the whole discussion to be so dramatic.

To this day, I still don't hear it :laughga:

BTW though, EP is cute but BTW is more inclusive and bangs.

Honestly they sound a little similar but so did a LOT of songs from the 80s and BTW was 80s inspired.

That's pure ignorance, tbh :toofunny:

If you know anything about music, there are plenty of similarities.

I do not think Gaga copied her...she has always been musically original....I think Gaga has a very unique, visceral approach to making art...she vomits out her creativity but in the process, she's channelling every icon that came before her to become the ultimate icon, and I think that's what happened with Born This Way. She was channelling Madonna, Whitney, Chaka Khan, RuPaul, Michael Jackson (the gloves in the video) and probably a lot of the horror movies she was watching while making TFM
