To be honest all I want from Gaga is for her to find her own sound instead of running from genre to genre. She keeps talking about not wanting to be put inside a box, yet all she does to avoid it is running into other boxes . Most of her experiments with different genres are pretty stereotypical and can be labeled quite easily. Why not return to making something new and "her" instead of taking on the identity of those around her.

Not pop, not jazz, not country, not EDM.

Something completely not ever been done before, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.

I think that would defeat the purpose of her being a "chameleon" in the music industry though. Gaga has an amazing ability to pretty much delve into any genre, and because she's dedicated and works hard to really immerse herself within that particular genre, she can easily make it her own.

Yeah, it'd be fun to see Gaga create something all of her own, but she's still going to have those influences with her. I think she, and to an extent her label, are afraid of completely going into "another box" because it could very well have negative consequences. 

I mean imagine if Gaga went completely into rock. Yeah, some people may be happy with it, but others may completely abandon her because they either don't like rock or because Gaga doesn't seem to have a solid foundation, sonically (even though the whole purpose of "Lady Gaga" is to be a 'chameleon' in the music industry). 

I think Joanne is a step into moving and transitioning into those "different boxes", and I do think that she'll move on to stuff, slowly but surely.

It's silly that she is such a rebel just for the sake of being one. She did not make it big by being like that. She listened and did what she was told. And guess what? It worked. Others are not your enemies Gaga, their input might actually have a reason and it can be helpful.

I hope you realise that at this point in time it would be very, very, very difficult to "make something that has never been done before". Sometime somewhere, someone has already done "something".  I think you are expecting too much from the hunty, and I think that what she's saying about "not being put in a box" is being limited to one "signature" sound. She wants to do everything and surprise everyone. She is everything, she is the whole universe

I'd rather see her doing what she wants as a person and artist and not big than just doing what's she's told just to be big.

She already did what she wants as an artist for 3 albums now, it's been enough.

Well obviously I can't expect her to make something "completely not done before" (that last sentence I posted was a quote from her "totally unique, never the same..." etc. etc. interview). I just think that sometimes she limits herself by thinking in extremes. She always completely alters her identity to a pre-conceived notion of what a certain genre or style should be, which was especially clear during C2C and Joanne (with the jazz and country stereotypes).

I think she'd do absolutely brilliant work if she'd let go of those stereotypes, and freely combines all of that musical knowledge and diversity. She did it pretty well with an album like Born This Way. You can't compare that sound to any other album because it was her own unique blend of influences.

Right now she's just running from stereotype to stereotype and screaming "I don't want to be put into a box" .

Ugh I really don't want her to release a music video for the cure!! I would hate that! And I pray she doesn't promote the song because if it went number one I'd be so pissed!!
