Yeah, I've seen more ignorance here than I could've ever anticipated. It's disheartening. It takes very little to keep one's mouth shut and seek out education, especially in this day and age. No one's perfect, but so many here seem like they have no desire to understand these sorts of issues on a deeper level outside of their immediate knowledge.

Gaga Daily is more like "Out-of-touch-White-Gay™-that-has-no-idea-of-what-they're-talking-about Daily" sometimes. Why any of these people are trying to defend iggy is beyond me. Now calling her a "****ing moron" is a bit harsh but Halsey is right about her stealing and disrespecting black culture.

the main reason people aren’t complaining about Eminem’s ... is that, quite simply, he has unequivocally demonstrated his love for hip-hop as a culture and a genre. He long ago recognized his white privilege (“If I was black I would have sold half”) and committed himself to the old-fashioned aesthetic of masterful lyricism. That he became the world’s biggest pop star almost seemed like an accident, whereas with Iggy Azalea it seems to be the main goal.

Still, it’s not Azalea’s success that most critics have a problem with. It’s that she often seems to be appropriating aspects of the culture (from her lyrical tropes to her patois) without putting in the hard work – and, further, that she has refused to be introspective in the wake of criticism from folks like Banks.

At this point, about the only thing, Eminem and Azalea have in common is that they’re both white rappers. Eminem has blended into the hip-hop landscape thoroughly enough to nearly transcend race. For Azalea, however, race remains her primary identifier.

I just don't buy it. I think the defining factor is that she's female and he's male.

I'm a fan of neither, but I don't agree with that article at all. I don't see how having a passion for hip-hop and putting in a lot of hard work to get to the top excuses cultural appropriation. Eminem became famous during a time when people didn't care as much about cultural appropriation. Because of that, he has "blended into the hip-hop landscape" simply because he's been around for so long. People turn a blind eye because he's "the one and only" Eminem.

I don't think Iggy is a very good artist at all and I do agree with the critics...but if she was a male, I think things would be very different.

Eminem never culturally appropriated black culture though, he was completely himself and hard-work and dedication definitely made him what he is today. Iggy puts on a fake accent and has very little talent when it comes to rapping, she didn't approach hip-hop with the intention of bringing something new and different, she relied on her being a "white female rapper" and thought that would be enough to help her career.

I completely agree that her gender makes it much more difficult for her to be taken seriously as a rapper, it's a shame especially when rappers like Lil Pump exist and get tons of love and female rappers have to put in 150% to make it:awkney:. With that said, her fake accent and lack of unique lyricism will always be the reason why she is not taken seriously. She literally is the Vanilla Ice of the 21st Century.

Also, Eminem was not taken seriously when he first came into the rap scene but his talent and clever word-play, as well as outrageous lyrics, push him to the be called the "Rap God" he's known as today.

I don't get it

As a celebrity if you hate someone why not just keep quite about it and avoid all the mess/ hate/ wars/ drags that contribute 0 to your career and will probably hurt instead

just avoid/ ignore that person is all

Is that even normal for actual regular human beings? I mean there are people in my life that bothers and annoy me but I don't go about telling eveybody I hate them.

You don't let your enemies know these things

unless of course Halsey has other plans for saying things like that

Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
