I never said it wasn't "good" it just isn't interesting or memorable. Katy has been mocked a lot. I still find her more entertaining and her album worth more repeat listens to my ears than Joanne. Witness isn't a train wreck, it has two hit songs already, two awesome videos, and we'll see how the tour goes and the rest of the era.  Being on the cover of AARP is great, sure, hell yea, slay Gaga yaasssss.

I love seeing you get torn to shreds. A delulu medonster on a Gaga forum. Maybe Madonna nation is more your style?

@RomansRoar is this your new account? Anyway, BA and SWSW did terribly on the charts, and Katy's average chart peak this era is 36, even Gaga's is 19 this era. Yep, anyone who covers AARP is a loser, cool people don't experience joint pain.

Just to clarify, PI and MR are hits. BA and CTTR are hits. I mean a top 50 on HOT 100 is a hit to me. I'm a Madonna stan, I would kill for M to have a song get the play and exposure of any of these songs at this point on her career. So, just to give some perspective on why I call BA a hit.

The AARP drag is biting my ass. I didn't mean to be ableist OR ageist. But I am being that way. I shouldn't drag her for covering a magazine for older folks, and I take that back. I should know better, and I apologize.

Also I love Joanne album. I just like Witness better, as an album AND era so far. Personal preference.

Torn to shreds how?! It's also OK to be a Gaga fan AND a Madonna fan. I am a fan of pop music and all pop girls. Pop girls are my "sports" I love to analyze and compare and contrast and all that, it gives me so much life. Love them all. Long life pop girls. Joanne was still boring.

Idk, I feel like calling any song in the top 50 a hit is a stretch. Monsters don't consider PI a hit because of a lack of longevity on the charts. MR and CTTR are Katy and Gaga's only hits this era imo. TC might count because it did well in certain music markets that Gaga has struggled in lately.

I chose a song that they are most familiar with and also talks about similar topics such as isolation and compared it to songs that they thought were the strongest in “Joanne". Of course people seek different things when it comes to what they enjoy and you've said it incessantly already and I wanted to know why they thought in that certain manner in which people called it “basic" and “boring" even though it can be proven to not be any of those connotations. When I made the post people commented with a gif solely so how's that igniting any conversation whatsoever? If someone were to say “I don't enjoy Melodrama because it's forgettable and the way she perceives certain topics don't make any sense because..." and so on this thread wouldn't have been such a trainwreck. Children know that and all I wanted was an answer to their ideologies in an incisive manner.

People in this thread gave you longer answers and explanations. You just don't want to accept anything outside of your opinion. Eh, most people don't want to go on and on about a subjective opinion. There is nothing wrong with saying that you find it to be boring or that you listened once and didn't feel compelled to listen again. The music wasn't something you enjoy or you don't enjoy the artist's voice...or the songs don't fit where you are in life at the time. Most people don't dig that far into music they don't like, they just move on.

TC is not Joanne but. I get what you are saying. So what is a hit? Top 10? Either way, to me it's a stretch to say Joanne won anything over the other ladies. I don't feel like it was some huge smash that blows Witness out of the water.

No one is saying it's the biggest smash ever, but more succesful than Witness and Melodrama? For now, it is.

? You can't just say that because you don't even know if I read them or not so why are you saying that as if I didn't consider THEIR opinions? If people don't want to go on about an album they aren't in favor of them they can just see that they've mentioned it and leave the thread.

Like I said in my first reply, it depends on what your definition of more successful is. I feel like all things considered, everything is balancing out between Katy and Gaga where they are on equal ground. Melodrama is still to new for me to decide, but I don't feel like it will sell close at all, despite being a brilliant record.

I mean if Joanne ends up with higher charting singles, bigger album sales and a higher tour gross then the era is bigger.

I agree. So, jury is still out I guess.
