n0ne 13,105 Posted June 21, 2017 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Writer and director of the 3 films mentioned, Neill Blomkamp has started his own production company, called Oats Studios. He plans to release "a series of experimental short films and other content entitled Oats Studios Volume 1" under his new studio. The studio has it's own website but will release everything for free on YouTube and Steam. The 1st film entitled, Rakka was released about a week ago, but it just occured to me share it today. It stars Sigourney Weaver (who worked with him in Chappie and was supposed to work with him in the now cancelled Alien 5). Honestly, it's pretty amazing and if you're fan of his style and sci-fi you won't be disappointed. Here are the trailers they have released. The films look like they weave between sci-fi, horror, thriller, and action. Looks like Dakota Fanning stars in one of them Spoiler Honestly, I'm really excited. I was really shook when Blomkamp announced that he's working on Alien 5. I still can't get over the fact that it's cancelled. I don't know if it's far to compare a 20 minute short film to a 2 hour movie. I feel like it's easier to tell a more polished and concise story in a short film format. Ridley Scott says that there are going to be more movies, like he's going to create a new franchise out of it. I do think he'll take the criticisms and make each better than the last. But as right now I do think this franchise is he creating is interesting but a little pointless.
