I do think that Gaga tries to change her style with every era and keep things interesting. I just wouldn't compare her experimentation to what Lorde is doing But Lorde worked with a super mainstream producer (not that Gaga works with a ton of obscure ones) and used contemporary sounds. Her album sounded like 2017 to me. It might be more experimental, but that doesn't make it less commercial, as the songs could fit into hipster parties, and be played by angsty teens. Song structure is only one aspect of a song, if you still sing love songs and don't venture into political or obscure topics like sexuality outside of the norm, your music retains some of its radio friendliness. Gaga singing about immigration in Americano would never fit on the radio. Neither of those songs are experimental. Experimental music tends to refer to song structure, vocals, and engineering, not necessarily the topic or meaning behind a song. Anyways, when did this become a Gaga vs Lorde comparison. And why is Lorde being compared to the mainstream pop girls? While Lorde does make pop music it certainly isn't as radio friendly as the other mainstream pop Girls. Furthermore, she was never previously considered one of the mainstream acts; just because you happen to have a commercially successful album/viral songs doesn't necessarily mean you fit the criterion for mainstream pop music. Finally, she doesn't make similar pop music to Gaga at all so that comparison should stop.

WideAwake 0
You guys have been bitter and jealous of Katy since 2011. LMAO, she really has you SHOOK. No shade, but you should rather be worrying about your fave and her latest single which is underperforming. Feels is doing far better than The Cure on iTunes, radio and Spotify and will most likely become a second top 10 for Katy this year. She's also getting more cash than Gaga, especially with her amazing American Idol judge position which will be another promo platform for Katy. Katy will be shining as the brightest star racking up new hits whereas Gaga might embarrass herself with ASIB. Let's be honest she's a bad actress. WideAwake 0
Where am I showing hate for Gaga? It's nothing but facts, you not wanting to deal with them is another story. Katy's slaying with Feels and is doing just fine!

WideAwake 0
I love how sensitive you are and report my posts, refuting all the points I'm making. Fine, fine, I guess you've finally come to terms with the fact that Katy is still doing amazing and better than Gaga despite not so stellar numbers. Katy is just a feature on Feels and she's alongside other artists. If it does well then amazing! But it's not like it's one of her songs off of her new album that's slaying the charts tho. Cash doesn't really matter, Katys demand for more money is giving the industry a bad taste in it's mouth. The higher demands an artists makes the more celebrities won't want to work with them. If ASIB tanks, Gaga was and is still seen as someone who tried and experimented which is commendable, Katy is already gaining bad reviews for her work on American Idol and it hasn't started yet! That's what happens when you want more cash. In reality they're two amazing female artists who are killing the game, sometimes one comes up smelling of roses and the other one doesn't. That's how the industry works and it's been like that for a long time hence why we have so many amazing celebrities and performers, they all have good careers

The fact that you had to use a song she features on alongside 3 other artists as an example shows the depths of decay The Cure remains unbothered with 0 promo and 1 live performance at a festival in the US & slaying UK & Aus radioplay. How sad do you have to be to make an account just to talk shite? Majority of the comments here are assessments of statistics, not petty personal jabs. Melodrama and Witness are great examples of what happens when you wait months after the lead single to drop the album in today's market. No one is here for long gaps like that anymore, it used to build hype, but we don't have that kind of attention span anymore. The 25/Joanne style roll out works way better, because people still have a lead single fresh in their mind when the album comes out. Perfect Illusion was a massive flop tho, I think Gaga could've not released it and it wouldn't have made a difference chart wise.

True, I think the positive press she got during 2015-2016 and the dive bar tour helped her more than PI.
