It's between Melodrama & Damn. tbh

I don't understand why critics praise hip-hop so much? :oprah:

I don't know the last two albums :chica:

But yeah, 24K Magic and Starboy are sure to get nominated.

I'm not sure about Joanne, but I pray to Lucifer uncle daily, so it might snatch a noms.

Also, does Lust For Life qualify for Grammy 2018, or 2019?

PS: If Starboy wins, Queen Lana will get her first Grammy :firega:

Awaken, My Love is by Childish Gambino and After Laughter is by Paramore both were critically acclaimed and both have gotten grammy nods before.

See how there haven't been too many top female albums recently and the impact during the era; I think Joanne has a decent chance for some noms.

I love Lana and even though her albums are fantastic and get pretty great reviews and do well commercially; the Grammys always sleep on her. So I'm doubtful about Lust for Life, unless the critics are blown away by it.

I think the shortlist will be (from what's out so far):

Divide

Damn.

Melodrama

Starboy

More Life

Joanne

24K Magic

Awaken, My Love

After Laughter

But as we know only 5 can get nominated. Honestly the rules should be changed to 10, like oscars do with best picture. :madge:

No shade, but I could easily see Joanne not being nominated.

Melodrama and Damn are the strongest contenders.   I can't see Joanne winning but has a strong chance at getting a nomination.  Witness will totally sweep though :derpga:

I haven't heard Melodrama but is it that good? Melodrama hasn't even proven to be outstanding on the charts, why do you guys claim it to be like a certain nomination?

Tbh I haven't heard most of the album but I've seeing people on her praising it and saying the reviews/metacritic scores have been great, so I just included it.

But Grammys are also about popularity so if Lorde wants to secure a nomination, she needs to be almost as impactful as Bruno, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, and even Gaga's albums.

At least Gaga has appeared on high-profile promotional platforms like Coachella and Superbowl.

Kendrick Lamar - Damn

just to pay justice to 1989 winning over his last album

They always have 1 or 2 dark horse nominations that were critically praised but didn't sell well and/or have much impact.

Those are usually indie or alternative rock albums rather than popular artists like Lorde.

Sara Bareilles was nominated for The Blessed Unrest, 2 years ago. She's not's the most known artist, but she's not really indie or alternative either. The album got a 68 on metacritic and didn't have much cultural or commercial impact besides Brave (which was a modest success at the time).

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not saying Lorde will never get nominated. I have to listen to Melodrama to determine which between Joanne and Melodrama is more deserving of the nomination though.

I don't expect to like Melodrama more than Joanne. I like Lorde but everyone hyped Pure Heroine and I thought it was overrated; there were only a few songs I liked.
