Maybe Gaga / Interscope was fishing for rappers to feature on those tracks and MIA happened to hear them as she might have been passed the tracks. Yup, the label was looking for R&B singers/rappers to collaborate on ARTPOP 1.0. Included with Azealia Banks was MIA and another female rapper.
