JustHMLover 1,635
SZA just dropped her debut album Ctrl and the project’s third track features her TDE labelmate Kendrick Lamar. “Doves in the Wind” is produced by frequent Chance The Rapper collaborator Cam O'bi, marking his first time working with SZA. During her recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, she noted that the track is “dedicated to vaginas,” and both she and Kendrick address the role of sex in a relationship throughout the song. “Doves in the Wind” features a sample of Redman’s 2001 track “Let’s Get Dirty (In the Club)” which was a minor hit at the time. Christina Aguilera‘ later flipped the track into her 2002 hit “Dirrty.” It’s not the first time Kendrick has rapped over a sample of “Let’s Get Dirty” either; Ab-Soul’s 2010 song “Turn Me Up” featuring Kendrick also samples Redman’s track. - Genius
