Bradley 59,064
I watched this one-hour therapy session from start to finish and I rarely do this for any artist apart from Stefani. I'd admit that I suspected something was off about Katy ever since the release of Bon Appetit, which was months ago, it went on and on until the culmination evident in this session. I'm sure y'all have noticed the change in her behaviour as well, I knew she was sad about something, and she ignored all the hatred and negative response, some on proper basis, some were blatant hatred without good foundations at all. Personally, I think it's ok to criticise her music, vocals and work because she's an international performer, but laughing at and making sarcastic comments about an artist's underperformance or lack of success, that is something I consider morally egregious. In fact I've shed a lot of tears watching this video. When she admitted she wanted to commit suicide and was ashamed of it, and that By the Grace of God was about that. When she cried at 57:29 when she saw the word 'freedom'. She's experiencing exactly the same thing Gaga was experiencing one or two years back then. Gaga has grown up, hence the lack of social media interaction and bullsh*t you guys have witnessed.mp3 from her. I didn't even need a confirmation from Katy (which she gave) to know that Gaga and her are definitely friends in private. I dk why you guys didn't see that. Obviously we don't see everything in public. These are two of the strongest and most entertaining women musicians in the industry of our generation. I know there are artists like Rihanna, Beyonce and Taylor Swift out there, but honestly I think only Gaga and Katy understand each other's pain. Sort of like Joan and Bette. I actually think there's a reason to that. Rihanna and Beyonce are black, so there's already a cultural difference between them. Rih and Bey hang out with artists like Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West. Secondly, artists like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez or Ariana Grande are too young to relate to women in their 30s like Gaga and Katy do to each other. An additional thing is that these two women are constantly being compared against each other, and have given comments, both positive and negative about each other's work. I mean the whole Roar vs Applause, Prism vs ARTPOP thing. I dk why I felt the urge to make this thread but I'll just say after Witness, I have significantly changed my perspective on Katy Perry and while I've always liked her, I like her a little more now. In fact, I have more respect for the effort she put into her career. And I hope Gaga and Katy hang out more. I'll always love Lady Gaga, but I am excited to witness how Katy's career goes on in the future. Here's hoping her the best. And yes, Witness and Joanne are competing for Grammys in 2018. Still gonna root for Joanne tho.
Moebius 8,965
Same goes for me; Witness made me a fan of sorts People are just still salty about ARTPOP and Prism The Most Popular Girls in School megarate is cancelled!
Bellatrix 34,794
Katy is fantastic in all sorts of ways. She hasn't done anything to deserve all the hate she gets here. It's completely fine if you don't like her or anyone else, you don't have to. But please don't post shitloads of hate comments about another human being who hasn't done anything wrong. That makes you the bad guy, not her. Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
River 116,823
I think you are wrong. Katy is experiencing 2 things: 1. Katy comes from a very religious life and through her career it always looked like she's struggling to choose between the 2 worlds and now it seems she chose "Freedom" but she's still struggling to take it, this is why there is this hair change and sexuality change in her, she's trying to break free but it looks like she's not there yet and ready. It's very common to happen to people that came from a strong religious family and then left it. 2. After 2 successful albums, where everybody adored her and she was the new sweet American girl, suddenly she's being criticized, by everyone, even her fans, she was so confident in her music and you clearly saw it, she was really arrogant when CTTR was released and she got a big slap, this is what happened to Gaga with ARTPOP too.. But I don't agree that we shouldn't make jokes with a proper taste about her or about any celebrity, there is always a line, always, but as long as no one is reaching it, can we have a little bit of fun here? The problem with society is that they are taking celebrities too seriously and worshiping them and protecting them instead of using all their energy and resources to help the people that really needs that help and your topic showed it very well.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Exactly. When I watched that session, I noticed that the therapist called "Katy," not Katherine, a "goddess" of some sort, and I had a problem hearing that, but he's not wrong at all. Some people actually do see her that way and not as a human like they should.
Guest ARTPOPSlays
My perspective on Katy has definetly changed, especially after watching the therapy session. She seems so genuine! I even bought Witness and really like it

She is just going through what Gaga went through in 2013/14. Gaga matured and grew older and Katy is doing that now. End Racism Now

What is the point of stating facts I already know? Just because it's common doesn't mean it's not something worth feeling empathy for. 2. Can you give an example of when she's being arrogant? Actually I do make jokes about Katy once in a while, but never to the point where it sounds like a real insult or intended to make other people form a negative opinion on her. I never wrote in the OP that we should not and must not make jokes of any sorts about. I think you are dissatisfied with how the public treats celebrities and venting it in my thread by generalising me as equating to them. You have no idea about what I do in my private life but you made the assumption that just because I spent five minutes to make this thread, that I no longer have time to 'appropriate my energy and resources to helping the people which really need help', which is something I am not obligated to do, really. Cut me some slack, just because I spent five minutes on this thread doesn't mean I worship Katy Perry. I also may do whatever with my time as I please. wahkeenasitka 1,995
I admit, I've watched a little bit of her videos this weekend, and I've finally come to appreciate her as a really real, emotionally authentic human being.

I dk but Britney seems to me like an artist of the 90s generation whereas Perry and Gaga debuted in 2008. Also Britney lip-syncs so she can't relate to the joys of performing live. P!nk is a little punk and rock-inclined, so she hangs out with different musicians, whereas Miley was from Disney and also is around Swift's age, so she's not yet a woman in her 30s.
