May To Seek Coalition After Shock Hung Parliment Result

Point 1- She did though. She called it because she thought she win by a large majority giving her the ability to do what the hell she wants to do in parliment. NO WAY ON THIS EARTH is Theresa May a 'Honnest' politician. Have you heard Liar Liar??:madge:  She'd much rather spend money of arms trades in Saudi Arabia and Syria rather than the NHS (which she wants privatised, similar to the US). And other things, you should listen to that song.

Point 2- Corbyn was put through hell by the British media (ask @Dominic Marc) but he still did miles better than the last election. His campaign was 10000x better than the Tories. He is strong, and is getting stronger. Mrs. May says she is strong and stable, but she has crumbled and very weak.

Point 3 - You fail to realise that its already been voted for a IndyRef2 in the Scottish Parliment and therefore its part of constiutional law. Therefore there is already a mandate for it to happen, all Nicola needs to do is negotiate when would be the best time. And to quote Mrs. May "Now is not the time".  The SNP won the election in Scotland, their 2nd best result ever. Yes, its short from the 56/59 MPs that were elected in 2015. All that means is that winning a 2nd refferendum, right now, would be very difficult. However, last Saturday there was an independence march in Glasgow where more than 25,000 people turned up to make their voice heard. The election wasnt about Independence though, so the vote in Scotland doesnt actually change much tbh. Once we get a clearer picture of what Brexit means for Scotland and the rest of the UK, that is when the time is right. The people should have a right to decide the future of Scotland - if we follow the Tory hard brexit or if we go on own own path.

The positive thing that came out of this election is really Corbyn and the gain in confidence in the Labour Party, the downfall of the 'strong and stable leadership' of Theresa May and the exposure of who Theresa May really is when she went to the DUP for backing in government.

I am certain, and hopeful that a 2nd Independence Refferendum will get carried out in 2019. Because then we know what mess we are in and I think the people of Scotland will not be idiots and we will take our own path away from the rest of the UK. The Union is a mess, and if Theresa May and the DUP coalition government gets accpeted, I dont want to be a part of this country.

The Tories make poor people even poorer and force them further into poverty while keeping the wealthy even richer. They are now even further right than before, taking over from UKIP. If you agree with facisim, austerity, racism, xeophobia ect, then you are more than welcome. But it makes you on par to Donald Trump supporters. Delusional. I hope you wake up one day and see things for what they are.

1. No, that's all speculation from people who hate her. You've got no proof that's why she did it. People are just desperate to paint her as a villain. People claim stuff that isn't true about parties they don't like constantly. I hear it all the time from Tory haters. Everyone does it to each other. Every party is evil according to the opposition. Everyone just out to bring each other down. I by no means think any of the main parties are evil, not even the SNP. But in this world that we live in, we're encouraged to be at either end of a spectrum and call out people on the other end. Ever heard of a middle ground?

2. I'm talking about how Jeremy sounds when I say that he sounds weak. Just like Ed Milliband before him, he just doesn't seem like a leader. No charisma, no charm, he even sounds weary and like he just wants to go for a nap. In contrast, the other parties sound bright, full of enthusiasm and ambitious. He just sounds like he can't wait to retire. He seemed good at the beginning but hthe things he's been saying recently has put him right down in my estimation. He just seems to not know what he's doing or has any real plan.

3. I don't care about constitutional law. Most of Scotland don't want another referendum. SNO just can't get this into their heads. The last one broke up friendships and even families and things were so hostile. Not to mention, we would have gone right down the tubes if it had come through. The SNP don't want to talk about the oil anymore now its in such decline - isn't that funny? We'd be as poor as church mice if we became independent and everything would go up in price to add insult to injury. How some people can't see that is beyond me. Nicola was trying to push for Indyref2 before Brexit was even put through - of course now isn't the time! Then she has the gall to turn around and say that Theresa's using the current political fallout for her own selfish gains! Pot calling the kettle black, much? Like Willie Rennie said, so what if there was a pro-independence march? That just means that 25,000 people want a referendum. That's nothing. Call me when it's a million people marching. And if I have to hear: "Scotland has the right to choose its future" one more time...we're part of the UK. Therefore, we have to make compromises and not throw our toys out the pram the instant something doesn't go our way. London has a whole lot more people than the entire population of Scotland. They voted Remain as a whole, just like the majority of Scotland did. But did London start making calls to be independent from the rest of Britain just because one election result didn't go their way? No! Just because you don't always get the political decisions you want doesn't mean you should throw a huff and start demanding your area should govern itself.

In times like this, where our country is getting attacked, we need to stand together. We cannot separate ourselves. I don't think Scotland has it in us to keep ourselves protected as an independent country. I don't want families and friends to be split up and have different nationalities from each other. I don't want to be cheering on a teeny little team at the Olympics. I don't want to have all the UK's history and achievements wiped off our records because they're no longer ours. I don't want stripped of my UK identity. I enjoy being Scottish while simultaneously being part of something bigger. And I certainly don't appreciate you telling me that I'm on par with Trump supporters. You can be liberal but not always vote liberal. You can be liberal but not agree on all liberal matters. You're the one supporting facism by telling people that they must categorise themselves and never shift from what their category deems them as. We're much more complex that that.

Please note that I'm going away for 2 weeks tomorrow so you won't get a reply if you respond. Just allow what I said to sink in, however.

I think you'll find most of Scotland does want another refferendum, and even more people will want it once they see the mess of a tory hard brexit. Scotland is a country in a union made up of 4 countries. Think of it like a little family. One of the siblings wants to move out and do their own thing. He/she should be more than welcome to do so. Scotland is THE EXACT same. We should have a right to decide our own future. Being part of the union has come at a major loss for Scotland, espically after Thratcher was in power. As for the oil, yeah its declined. But did you know they found new oil and gas fields in the Noth Sea? Now, I'd rather see that money being put to good use here in Scotland rather than Westminster take it. The rest of the UK depend of Scotland remaining part of the union, but if we want to go on our own path away from the mess, we should be entilted to do so. There was a poll that suggested 52% of Scots back independence, I dont think its dead is it? I dont want anything to do with the UK if this mess continues. The Tories have done nothing but damage in Scotland. The union should be treated like a family of 4, instead we get told what to do from Westminster. They stomp on us like a piece of dirt. We dont want trident up here! Yet, they voted to renue it. I am Scottish, not British. And I havent ever felt British or waved the Union Jack. I dont fit in to the British 'God Save The Queen' attitude.

I just love when people say bs like "Jeremy doesn't have charisma, he doesn't look like a prime minister" like wtf does that even mean? :toofunny: as if Theresa wasn't looking like lizard supervillain :chica:

giphy.gif

what really matters is Jeremy's policies, not his looks or charisma, I couldn't care less about "he looks like a tired grandpa", that is so superficial

choosing a leader because of charisma not actual plan is so stupid no tea no shade :rip:

So UK people... How long until Theresa May resigns? I saw in the news broadcasts here that British politicians were expecting an election again within the next 12 months? Wouldn't this be your third year with an election in a row?

There won't be another one unless the DUP changes their minds about the agreement with Tory government.

As long as the Fixed-term Parliaments Act is on the statute book, there are two ways to have an early election. One is to have a two-thirds vote of MPs, which is how it happened last time, because Theresa May announced the election and dared Labour to vote for it or look as if it was afraid of the people.

The other is for the Government to table a motion of no confidence in itself, which would look odd. It is a provision of the Act designed to allow a government to be voted down, and provides two weeks for other parties to try to form a government (which they wouldn’t be able to do as long as the DUP refused to deal with them). That would require only a simple majority, rather than two-thirds.

i don't doubt she will be gone within the next 6 months I believe she will carry us through the Brexit negotiations and then jump ship

Wasn't one of the things Thersa May wanted to do was repeal the Fixed Terms Parliament Act? Why wouldn't Labour support it again if they could win more seats? Is the Prime Minister going to resign?

Watching real democracy in action astounds my Russian mind :saladga:

There will be another election if nobody agrees with the new government. Theresa May has to go to parliment and tell everyone what her plans are. Remember, The DUP havent officially agreed to a coalition yet. And she needs to get the backing of parliment, which means Jeremy Corbyn has to agree with the new government in order for May to keep power. If he and other parties object then Corbyn can put a Vote of No Confedence motion into parliment where members can vote. If the members vote in favour of the motion, there will be no offical government. So we will need to head to the polls again to decide who will be leader. Thats how it works. The alliance with the Tories and the DUP (terrorist backing, facist, anti gay, against climate change and womens rights) isnt set in stone yet. Things can all change ;)

Even people in her own party dont agree with the coalition with the DUP. Some are even calling May to resign. Scottish Tory leader, Ruth Davidson is extemely unhappy about it. She is lesbian and is open about it, she finds it ridiculous that May is doing a deal with the DUP

A vote of No Confidence is highly likely because no body agrees with it and Jeremy has said he'll fight it. Nicola Sturgeon has said she'll do everything and anything to keep the tories out. Tim Farron has been very quite, I dont think he'll agree with it. The Greens wont agree either, plus her own party memebers that dont agree. Corbyn can and will fight this.

The DUP havent agreed to anything yet.
