Bon Apetitte Coulda Been a Massive Hit

...if only it had featured non homophobic, talented rappers. in my opinion, if katy had got kendrick, jay z, kanye (again) or even cupcakke to rap for her on this song, it could have gone so much better.

i ended up loving the song, the video was greatly produced and the song is obviously better and funnier than swish swish. imo people turned on her for joining forces with migos after receiving an lgbt award and without the internet for her the song didn't blew up.

potential top 15 missed imo

i disagree. I liked it when it first came out, but realized, the song doesnt go anywhere, and the food cliches feel extremely dated. This song would've been a hit back 2012, maybe 2013. but in 2017, nothing about it feels fresh. The beat is catchy, but also kind of clunky and a bit overproduced.

Well, I went to the beach the other day and I heard it being played twice.

John Wayne could never.

Spoiler

sadly

If only the lyrics weren't so cringeworthy, I guess it would have a solid chance...

It definitely would have charted higher because even her own fans held off on buying it because of the feature  but I'm not sure if it would have been a hit either way, homophobia doesn't seem to hinder the general public from buying things :neyde:

Not at all, people simple did not like it and I agree with them, it's awful. The stupid rappers maybe hurted its chances a little bit but nothing major, I mean Gaga fans still bought DWUW and we know what's up with that song.

Umm, no. I know we all dislike the song because of the featured homophobes, but the GP doesn't care about those things. I mean the Migos have been very successful on the charts over the past year even though they've been talking sh*t about gays for some time now. As much as I hate to say that, but they're probably the only reason this song charted at all.

This is really Katy's ARTPOP... :duck:

I remember the Little Monsters saying DWUW would have smashed more without R.Kelly :duck:

Now Bon Appetit would be better without Migos :duck:

Not a Katy fan, but I think it's a really hot song. The beat is addicting/fun, and I love the trap elements during the rap verses. Tbh, I think Migos fit the song really well (not a fan of those disgusting homophobes either). After all, they're what's hot right now, and you know Katy/her label just wanted that hit record. I really couldn't imagine anyone else to be featured on that song either, in fact I think they're the reason it charted where it did (which wasn't that high to begin with).

However, I do agree with some responses on here that it sounds dated. This song would have performed better had it been released during the Prism era. AND, she's already used food clichés in her previous "Birthday" flop single. :saladga: Another reason why I think it hasn't done well is because its premise is somewhat childish, and clearly not innovative whatsoever. It's typical Katy Perry. :reductive:
