Review Katy Perry's Witness

Witness - Really good, loved it since the demo and it's a decent track. Also her voice sounds good on it, should have been the lead single. (the whistling is tragic tho)

Hey Hey Hey - Bit boring, it feels like it's missing something.

Roulette - Got upset because it sounded like Sweet Dreams started playing but it wasn't 

Swish Swish - It's that song where on first listen you're like "mate this is a bop" and the next listen you're like "the ****? This so bad skip"

Deja Vu - Decent song, could/should be a single. The themes sound similar to CTTR. The songwriting is a bit meh but it sounds like a more mature song than the previous few 

Power - The **** is with those drums at the start? Bloody cringe lyrics 

Mind Maze - I can't work out if I like this song or not. Again it's got bad lyrics but the production of it is nice and the robotic voice/autotune effect is nice! I think it's placement in the album is off though, it shouldn't be after Power.

Miss You More - Boring, feels like it's going nowhere and the lyrics are ****ing horrible. It's a bad eurovision style song

CTTR - Not lead single material, should have been second single after Witness. It's one of the better songs on the album though. This song feels like one of the first to be written and recorded and then she lost inspiration. 

Tsunami - One of the better songs on the album, decent lyrics and production. Why are all of the softer and slower songs on this album the best ones lmao???

Bigger Than Me - Decent song!! Just wait till the chorus, after that the song gets a lot better. The start is **** lmao

Save As Drat - A typing sound at the start, original. Sh*t

Pendulum - The start of this song is nice, feels fun and carefree...and then it goes nowhere (like most of the songs) 

Into Me You See - Second best song, listen to Witness and then skip the rest until this one comes on.

OVERALL - 

It's an ok album, her voice sounds good on it and her voice is nicer on this album than her previous tbh. One minute the songs and lyrics sound mature and then it gets cheap and boring again. There aren't really that many bops, it's not an exciting album.

1. Witness - 9/10 - One of the better songs on the album, nice to listen to, relatable

2. Hey hey hey - 9/10 - another nice song, the chorus is a little weird, but innovative I guess

3. Roulete 8/10 - pretty good, not like the first two, the chorus is a little weaker

4. Swish swish - 10/10 - this song is my jam from the very beginning, there is no song with Nicky on it that could be bad 

5. Deja vu - 7/10 - at this point the album starts being a little boring, expected more of this song tbh

6. Power 7/10 - powerful, but a little meh, slows the tempo of the album down

7. Mind maze - 5/10 - probably the weakest song, nice and mellow, but boring

8. Miss you more - 8/10 - a nice ballad, but nothing ground-breaking

9. Chttr - 10/10 - maybe I got used to this song already, but I like it

10. Tsunami - 7/10 - nice lyrics, lacks in music though

11. Bon Appetit - 9/10 - guess I got used to this too, it's one of the better songs tbh

12. Bigger than me - 9/10 - pretty nice song

13. Save as draft - 9/10 - now this is a powerful ballad that I can feel

14. Pendulum - 9/10 - I like the beginning, it's a nice change after the slow song

15. Into me you see - 7/10 - I know this is supposed to be a personal ballad, but I would expect more for a closer

Overall - 7/10 - I expected more from this album, the songs 5-8 were a letdown, but I really congratulate her to finally changing her style, for real this time

I didn´t feel any resemblance, the music production is totally different, the only similarities that I can find are some cringy lyrics here and there

1. Witness - 7/10: Not that different from the leaked demo from over a year ago, but a cute song overall 

2. Hey Hey Hey - 6/10: The melody is catchy to me, but the lyrics are terrible

3. Roulette - 8/10: I love the instrumental at the beginning, and the melody is pretty cool

4. Swish Swish - 6/10: Could've done without Nicki tbh, nonetheless, it's a cute club bop

5. Deja Vu - 6/10: Just like Swish Swish, it's a cute club bop, but the lyrics are a little bit better here, I must admit I liked the demo vocals better though

6. Power - 5/10: I hate the weird drum beats that came up throughout the song even at the end, I dislike most of the production, but the lyrics are good

7. Mind Maze - 4/10: The auto-tune ruins the song, but the ad-libs she sang at the end were nice

8. Miss You More - 8/10: Very nice ballad, the production was not overproduced, and her vocals matched it, lyrics were pretty good

9. Chained to the Rhythm - 9/10: The production is awesome, the feature made sense, great meaning to the lyrics and one of her best songs

10. Tsunami - 3/10: Very underwhelming for me, I felt that it was just stagnant throughout the entire song  

11. Bon Appetit - 8/10: Once again, could've done without Migos, but it's a super catchy bop

12. Bigger Than Me - 8/10: I like the Dance/House music vibe to it, her vocals fit perfectly with the production

13. Save as Draft - 9/10: The lyrics are very meaningful, the production is great & her vocals are good too, I love this song overall, it sounds like it could be a Kelly Clarkson song actually  

14. Pendulum - 9/10: One of the best songs on the entire album, I love the production and choir especially, however, katy's vocals didn't really match the song  

15. Into Me You See - 7/10: It's a very fairytale type of song, it's kinda like 'Not Like the Movies' 2.0, it's cute though

Overall Score: 69/100 

I guess Prism is still my favourite Katy album.

Quick review:

I haven't heard Katy's past album many times and I'm not a big fan of her music, just for the information. I stopped listening in Tsunami, overall I felt like the album had really really amazing and fun instrumentals and I absolutely love the general retro vibe the instrumentals gave me. On the other hand, the melodies of the lyrics sounded really familiar to me for some reason, not the melody itself but the feeling of it, to a point where I got bored of listening to the album just because the songs felt like old Katy Perry with retro sounds added.

I'm pretty disappointed, actually, I expected it to be a little more energetic and the songs ruined many eargasm build-ups. I believe it's supposed to be a chill album but with electronic sound?
