there is definitely more to it. The fact that despite Russian economy's position under sanctions introduced by the majority of the economically developed countries in the world SOME FOREIGN INVESTOR decided, amidst all the risks, to purchase the assets worth $11 billion is very controversial. The funniest thing is that the modern tax heavens system and off-shore zones allowed the deal to be absolutely anonymous. We don't know the final beneficiaries of the deal; all we know are the names of the funds and organizations and some banks, but what people were behind giving Russian budget so much money remains a question. 

As for that Steele dossier. With all due respect, I can't take it seriously. I know that anybody would be happy to offer me a ladder to help me with a reach I'm about to post, but the whole situation looks like some stupid black comedy about the revenge of top Republican officials against Trump, who, with his behaviour, not only showed disrespect for their legacy, but also attempts to influence their earnings. 

The dossier would seem a lot more probable to me if it were brought by anybody BUT Senator McCain. During all of the campaign McCain did everything he could to publicly endorse anybody but Trump, to discredit Trump's professional competence (not that there was anything to discredit ) and to diminish the chances of Mister Orange taking the Oval Office.

When none of this worked and Trump won the election, McCain contacted this ex-member of British intelligence service and acquired a dossier about Trump's alleged contacts with Russia. Funny how McCain is probably the most anti-Russian Senator to ever serve, he is often described as hysterically anti-Russian. He used to tweet threats to Putin and is the first one to push for new anti-Russian laws and sanctions. 

What I mean to say is that there is a curious angle to look at this dossier. There is Trump trying to get elected, and there is McCain (who is himself far from appealing) who hates Trump and hates Russia. And then when Trump wins the elections McCain comes up with a dossier (with no varified sources) that suggests Trump used Russian agents to get elected and Russian agents have info to blackmail Trump. As Laurieann Gibson would say, that's a bit fishy.
