They gave Born This Way a C-

I mean it's not that Gaga is the best artist on Earth (she IS but not everyone can understand that :gaycat:) but it's like those reviewers just hate bug recording artist like Gaga or Katy, the always say their albums are boring and repetitive af

I wonder why gaga katy and co. still semd them their CDs

It also got a 50 from CoS, but since then Metacritic has updated their review score correlations. A C is now a 50 while a D is 25

What kind faulty grading system is that? :oprah:

"She's an adult now?" Correct me if I'm wrong (highly possible), but wasn't Katy well into her 20's when she debuted?

ETA: Also, on what planet is 50% a C? In my graduate program, the minimum passing grade is a B, for which the numerical correlation is an 85+. If we receive an 84 or below in any one course in a single semester, we get kicked out. God...I'd love having the opportunity to learn only half the content and still pass :toofunny:

Well you're a graduate now so it's normal that you have to study a lot harder :poot: But wasn't it like that when you were in school? Here half the grade is considered passing (10/20) but I think it's mainly because the highest average possible is 17/20 and that's really hard to achieve.

But I'm confused about Katy's score, because it's actually the opposite of your reasoning. They didn't give Katy a 50% and Metacritic took it as a C. They gave it a C, which is supposed to be a passing grade (isn't it like 70?) but Metacritic made it into 50%. I think that's really not fair.

This is just basic numeracy it's based on, though. I see you're called FinnishGypsy - are you actually Finnish? If so, perhaps this explains why your grading system is of such a high standard. The Finnish education system is the best in the world and its teachers are normally in the top tier of graduates, meaning they're highly qualified. I wouldn't be surprised if the grading system is really high to match the high standard of passing that goes on in institutions. Certainly, we only need 40% to pass in the UK, in most courses. Maybe that explains why so many of us barely pass and then can't remember anything we studied in our degree!

Forgetting education institutions for a moment, 50% is generally considered a C, the halfway mark, a passable grade. 50-59% is a wider figure. 50%, 50/50, half good/half bad. Therefore, passable but not amazing. Personally, I use a star rating system when I review albums, including half-stars and I only give marks out of 5. So, 1/5 = awful, 2/5 = mediocre, 3/5 = average, 4/5 = very good, 5/5 = excellent. So, all the little half-marks in between are just that. Translated into a percentage scale, 3/5 would would a 50%. A 2.5/5 is a mark just slightly below average (40-49%) and a 3.5/5 is slightly above average (60-69%).

That's their opinion after all. The last thing I want her to do is another TD. It's an amazing album but you gotta leave it in the past. She's trying hard REAL HARD with this project, and that should matter somehow, it matters to me at least.
