FinnishGypsy 921
Honestly not trying to be rude, but Katy's problem is that she has fundamental problems with pitch perception--she doesn't seem to naturally discern differences in pitch and doesn't adapt to them quickly. However, her vocal range is fine and she can sustain notes. Thus, her studio recordings sound quite good, due to the aforementioned skills and the subsequent application of a pitch corrector. But when she's singing live, she tends to overshoot her high notes, and thus often ends up sounding flat, sharp or just atonal.
