Why is Britney's lip syncing excused?

Is Britney's lip synching 100% acceptable? Not really, I'm not saying its entirely honest, but you would have to be pretty blind not to know she does it. And again, almost 20 years into her career, if you're buying a ticket to see Britney Spears you know its about a show and dancing, not great vocals. 

Pre-recording your vocals to make them sound live, but lip synching anyways, that feels dirty to me. Just my opinion. At least Britney isn't really trying to hide anything. 

And are you serious? Of course lip synching the National Anthem is offensive. What a huge honor to be asked to perform for the President, at a historical event, and you cannot even sing. Britney would never be booked for that, because she doesn't claim to be a "singer" the way Beyoncé does. However if you're going to sell yourself as a vocalist, you should deliver some vocals.

Everyone knows the lyrics to the National Anthem. We all know Beyoncé can sing, and there was no dancing to take away from the vocals. She's so obsessed with perfection, never messing up or hitting the wrong note, that instead she faked it! Which I think is incredibly insulting to her country. Her excuse that she didn't have time to rehearse is bullshit, when she had time to go and prerecord her vocals.

 

When a good 90% of your career has been nothing but live singing, you get a pass to lip sync a few performances. Britney has done nothing but lip synced and her performances have looked lazy and uninspired. To me, it feels like Britney doesn't even care about her performances. I've literally seen drag queens put 100x more effort into lip syncing her songs than she does and they get paid way less. 

In my opinion, It wouldn't hurt to re-record vocals for her older songs. It looks flat out embarrassing to be lip syncing to vocals that were recorded when you were still a teenager

And like you said, It's an honor to perform for the president. Why not want it to be completely perfect? She didn't get a chance to rehearse properly and didn't want to make a fool out of herself. Those Pre recorded vocals could've been made before she started rehearsals in the studio as they worked on the arrangement for the song.

Its an honor to perform for the president. So perform? What Beyoncé did is no different to what Britney does. Lipsynching is lipsynching. 

I personally disagree. I just saw Britney's Vegas show and it was amazing. Britney was on fire. If you don't agree, don't go to her show. And if you think 90% of Beyoncé performances are live you're delusional. Almost her entire shows are lipsynched.

It's a completely valid comparison. I was just making a point that everyone lipsynchs to some extent. I spoke about Gaga and Katy too. All the pop girls lip synch...Madonna, Rihanna, Ariana...even "singers" like Lana Del Rey use a track

I would get the whole "its a spectacle/performance people go for" if she was doing some sort of aerial acrobatics or Michael Jackson levels of choreo but all she seems to do is pace/walk fast around the stage and do a few arm movements

This whole thread transcends Britney and her continued choice to not sing live. The real question is: are you okay paying money for a concert at which an artist does not actually sing live? 

I have nothing personal against Britney. Honestly, I look at Britney as someone who had great vocal potential that was destroyed by producers and label execs who just wanted cash. With that said, I will never go pay money to see a concert at which I know an artist will lipsync. I don't care who it is. If I went to a show only to find that the artist that I liked was lipsyncing, I would leave.

That's just my opinion, though. If you want to spend your money at her concerts, it's your money, and you can use it in a market however you please.
