At first I was like "  " but I loved it by the end, the dancers looked hilarious (in a good way) and it was pretty fun  Also this solo version is so much better than the official version with Migos, I hope she releases this version or has it on the deluxe edition of the album or something  

Also I'm shocked at some of the imagery in the background, the cross sections of the mandarins and the kiwis were SO SUGGESTIVE, like I was sat here like "  " that they were showing it with this song playing

This song is so awkward to perform: it goes nowhere. 

And the fact that she can't even deliver a proper choreography for it makes it worse.

So were Simon Cowell and Nicki Minaj, neither of them can sing. It takes a lot more to coach people than just being able to sing. If they simply needed singing guidance they would go to a random vocal coach.

But do Simon Cowell or Nicki Minaj know how to coach/ guide someone's vocal talent if they themselves can't sing ?  

Of course it takes more than singing, but I don't get why hiring someone who doesn't know about the main element of the artist, which is singing in this case. For example, Xtina is a perfect choice for a coach as she herself knows about it and can guide the process.

I actually really like the stage design; the backdrop and arrow platform were great.

Loved the color scheme and dancer's outfits.

Katy's makeup was on point, but her outfit made her look like grandma.

I could see how somebody would struggle with the verse a bit because it's super airy whispery falsetto, meaning total lack of control. Similar to Britney trying to recreate her famous timbre in live settings. But the rest is like within the capabilities of a baritone. And Katy is a soprano.

I mean she's perfect for American Idol. None of the contestants in 10 seasons or so (except the first season's winner Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson & Adam Lambert) actually accomplished something notable outside the Idol franchise. It is fad artists getting coached by fad artists.

This is one of those rare moments where I have to criticize Katy and ask "why haven't you grown as an artist?". 

It was cute though. However, I'm not here for her lack of enthusiasm that she's been giving off for these past few performances. And why didn't she do Swish Swish? I know that this is The Voice France, but the song is at #73 on US iTunes... I'd hate to watch her have to go to single #4 only a little after the album finally drops.
