Not sure why we still use that system. It's unfair how a blue voter in Texas(a red state) is basically wasting their vote since only the major cites and the southern part are blue areas. If popular vote system was in effect, then EVERYONE's vote would count, and it's not really smart how a group of people make up the faith of the whole country. We saw in this election that the winning canidate lost by a huge amount of voters. In 2000, Al Gore lost by a few 500,000 people, but Hillary lost with a huge near 3 million advantage, and that proves how broken our system is, and saddly I can't see our system being changed anytime soon. lady arya 45 Posted June 1, 2017 Share Posted June 1, 2017 The worst part is Nicaragua didn't sign the agreement because the deal was too soft in their opinion since there is no penalty from not meeting the goal that you set for yourself, so they implemented their own plan to reduce emissions by 90% by 2020 and the reason Syria was excused was because of their civil war. There is no excuse to withdraw from this. Each country makes their own goal on what they think is best for their nation, and then have periodic check ins with other countries to show their progress. The deal was to curve carbon emissions (leading cause of Global Warming) and to help developing countries to use Green Energy.
