Anti was critically acclaimed/grammy nominated, had several hits (including the SMASH work and the huge hit LOTB) and sales wise, did very well. It's not even close to being her ARTPOP. I'll give you this, I liked "Kiss it Better", "Love on the Brain", "American Oxygen" and "Bitch Better Have My Money". I'm just bitter that she changed ANTI's concept just because of the way her singles were doing (AKA not flopping, but not #1 hits either). Also, because she didn't promote "Kiss it Better" as much as that other song she released around that time.

Only a few people know it... are you joking? LOTB peaked at no. 5, has sold over a million copies and has HUGE radio numbers (189 Audience impression) , plus the fact that its been dominating radio for 6+ months, as well as spending multiple weeks in the top 10 on BB. All of this, mind you, without a video, or any performances/promo. You can pretend like the GP isn't into the album, that's fine, but LOTB is a smash. StrawberryBlond 14,829
Whoa, I didn't think Billboard would actually draw parallels on this one. Shots fired. It just shows how much impact AP has made, if non-fans are still referring to it after all this time. Shows that being a true flop is lot more to do with low sales. A true flop is one that completely passes the public by, the kind of album that they never knew existed and they have to be informed of its existance in the future. For example, Bionic really wasn't a big flop because people still refer to it 7 years later as the benchmark for a flop. Its successor, Lotus, is the true flop, for that album sold even less and isn't even known by the public. When Xtina put out Let There Be Love with a promo video on her website, some people actually thought it was the new single from Bionic, even though that album was over 2 years old by this point! So, maybe AP won't be considered the current benchmark for a flop pop album real soon. With any luck, people might start to realise that it wasn't the flop they made it out to be. At the end of the day, Katy is not an albums artist. Even with #1 singles preceding her, she can't get higher than a 286k opening week in the US. Beyonce's achieved bigger sales than that with not so much as a top ten hit preceding the album and this was in the days before she surprise released as well. However, DWUW was a decent sized hit even with all the mess. The fact that there was no music video really was a colossal missed opportunity.

It's rare these days for a fourth single to do this well. I'm still so amused you think no one knows LOTB when it had triple Million reasons audience impression on radio, which is especially comical given the fact that rih didn't lift a finger to make it a hit. Doing well for a 4th single doesn't mean it's a huge hit... not at all. I'm just realistic. When did I say MR was a big hit ?
