LEL no they won't. Release date are chosen way ahead, even 5 years in the future, with very careful decision making. If it will be released earlier it will be sometimes in early 2018 not this year. Plus, they can always do retakes if during the production, they feel the need to cos what they have is not good enough, or adding new scenes altogether instead.

Gaga was doing musical theatre all through school, took strasberg method acting classes for years, and was early accepted and attended the DRAMA dept at Tisch before deciding to drop out and become a pop star.  Gaga is not exactly an amateur or untrained.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was set to be released in November 2008 but they pushed it back for like 8 months despite the movie being done.

Don't worry, I very well know how these things work. This isn't the kind of movie that's gonna stay in distribution limbo for long imo, with the star power involved. If they want to push it for late 2017, they could - not to mention the Joanne World Tour will be over by December 18th, so Gaga would be available for promo and the awards season.

I'm not saying that's what's gonna happen, just that it's possible.

Well, that's a pretty wide question. Regarding the release strategy, since it seems to be one of the main concerns here, it could go many different directions: this is a small budget movie, so the usual road would be getting the film into festivals through 2018 (Sundance is in early 2018, and there are loads of prestigious festivals around September/October) where the film could garner a lot of buzz, get a distributor and get a release in late 2018 in time for awards season.

Then again, with its very important star power, the movie could very well have a distributor already and they could push for a late 2017 release - Gaga would be done with her tour and she could get involved with promo and awards season, but the timeframe is pretty short... so my personal opinion and experience would lead me to believe the first option is what's gonna happen. Gaga will probably spend most of 2018 campaigning for this project.

EDIT: um so I just saw on IMDb that the movie apparently has a released date already, it's set for September 28th 2018 in the US.

So I guess the 2 options are valid somehow: the film does have a distributor for the US already, and it will get into the festivals circuit through 2018 to garner buzz and get distributors in foreign countries.
