Gaga has never been the typical popstar that follows the "Single, promo, single promo, single, promo" formula and has always done things a little different, especially these last couple of years with the Oscars and side projects. I'm sorry but some of you guys sound like you're only here for the charts and are part of Interscope or work there and are part of her marketing team. I'm pretty sure Gaga is doing more than fine right now and doesn't really care or want to take notes from popstars, she's been on top of it. Im the one who wrote "Gaga should take notes" but in that same post I was using Gwen Stefani as an example of someone who flopped with her singles yet she released the videos, and on a prior post I clearly said I didnt care if the songs flopped or not as long they received a proper treatment. So you are definitely mistaking by saying in your post that we only care about the charts if you wanted to start it by referencing me. Im glad Gaga has her side projects but hey most of us are here for her Pop music, it is ok to wish she gave proper treatment to her eras, despite chart performance! StrawberryBlond 14,899
I always thought it was the official third single right from the beginning. And not only because Wikipedia cited it as the official third single upon its release (but later replaced it as a promo single) but because BA was charting to terribly that I was sure any single, official or not, that was released that was doing remotely better, would be rush-released as the official third single. So, the whole time it was getting called a promo single, I was like, "Yeah, yeah, give it time, it'll become the official third one if it remains in the top 40 for longer than a week." So, of course it is. She wouldn't be promoting it if this were the case. It's rare to get Nicki Minaj on your track and then not make it a single. It's even rarer to make a diss track and then not make it a single. Katy sings about having hits on it, therefore, to not make it a single would defeat the whole point of it. She's sure going to be embarrassed when this flops, though. It's sad that she's relied completely on collabs to get sales and raise hype so far. Her label just don't have any faith in her star power this era. I wonder what this means for her future? If her label will just say: "She can't sell on her own anymore and she can't sell with collabs either, so we may as well just let her be completely solo from now on as we've nothing to lose"? To think, Katy used to have lots of hits completely solo, even before the rent-a-rapper remixes came along. I Kissed A Girl, Hot n Cold, Waking Up In Vegas, Teenage Dream, Firework, Last Friday Night, The One That Got Away, Part Of Me, Wide Awake and Roar all went top 10 or #1 in America and they were all released as solo works as singles. But Dark Horse was her last hugely successful collab. She hasn't had a solo top ten hit since Roar. To think, Gaga's had a more recent solo US top 10 than Katy. This would have been unthinkable back in 2013.

YeehawKylie 7,817
I don't understand the judgment, or those saying she's thirsty for a hit. The purpose of a single is to generate interest for the album. Bon Appetit is not catching on with the general public given some decent promotion, so why not move on? Especially as she approaches album release day... Swish Swish has been better received, so why not push that song?

You've got to give each one time to set in. BA been out for what, a month? Considering how long radio can take to catch on, you can't just abandon a single that quick. Plenty of artists are no longer making 3 singles pre-album anyway, a lot of them just have one now, actually. Katy's going old school with her release and it's backfiring. She's made people wait too long for the album and shown them too much of that they might not like. Honestly, she should have just put out CTTR and then put the album out about a month later and it probably would've gone better for her. It's what everyone else is doing now anyway. BA bombed though and I really don't think there is much she could do to change the perception of it. The video gave it a brief boost, but I see it tumbling down the charts after this. In general, I agree...you want to space out your singles, but Bon Appetit is a special exception. That is not the single I would want promoted as my album was released. Swish Swish is far superior and will generate more interest in the album.
